The epicentre of the University of Colorado is Folsom Field - a 53,000 capacity stadium where the college football team - the Colorado Buffaloes - play their home games. Opened in 1924, the horseshoe-shaped stadium sits at over one mile above sea level, making it one of the highest sports stadiums in America, higher even than the Broncos’ famous home down the road in Denver.
Until recently, the Buffaloes struggled to fill the stadium on game day, but the arrival of Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders in 2023 flipped the narrative overnight and attendance rose 25% to its 53,000 capacity. From sitting somewhat on the periphery, the Colorado Buffaloes are now very much a story in US college football.
In October 2024, I visited Folsom Field for an evening game to film the arrival of the famous team mascot - Ralphie the Buffalo - into a packed stadium heaving with anticipation and excitement.
I had studied video of previous entrances and made a judgement on the best position on a risk-reward basis. My preconception was that I needed to convey the sense of a stadium full to capacity as well as, of course, capturing the spectacle of Ralphie in full flow.
I want to thank CU for its support and partnership in this project, which will raise money for the Athletic department and those that look after Ralphie. We wish Coach Prime all the best in his crusade in Boulder - he certainly has had a material impact.
This photograph, taken last week, of a four-meter-long male crocodile is elevated by the lighting conditions at dusk. Three hours before, it was all too bright and any photographs would be less dramatic. He is believed to be over 110 years old and weighs more than 750 kgs.
There is no more revered live mascot in global sport and I recognised that without Bevo, any picture celebrating the Longhorns would be very lame. It was a privilege and an honour to be allowed this level of access.
Diego
For a generation now, the giant murals of Maradona, dotted around Naples and the neighbouring towns, have become tourist destinations in themselves. Diego was so much more than just a sportsman; he was a modern-day saviour in this god-fearing and deeply spiritual place.
The Road to Amalfi
A corollary of life on the road, is to build up a mental collection of favourite journeys. Most roads only offer a perfunctory way of getting from A to B, but then there are the gems where the journey itself becomes the main event.
The Euros has been a fantastic, trouble-free festival of proud nationalities, and it has reminded many what a culturally rich continent Europe is. Spain may well win, but so also have all those who travelled to Germany to celebrate life. No Euros, no party.
I may be Scottish, but I am delighted to be heading to Berlin to cheer on England on Sunday. They will need to be absolute lions - each and every one of them - to bring it home.
La Dolce Vita
Positano - the poster child of Italy’s Amalfi Coast - is best viewed from the sea. It is only from the water that its spectacular cliff hanging location is visually showcased and there is a palpable and most necessary sense of place.

I have the utmost respect for St Andrews and am blown away by @David_Yarrow's ability to pay homage to its rich history. Brilliant work my friend, an iconic shot for an iconic course! #The150thOpen
When my dear friend @David_Yarrow told me he wanted to create an image that was his own take on the iconic scene, I was immediately thrilled about the concept and humbled and honored to have been asked to take part.
