@FAN590 @jtbourne @JDBunkis That's where the tank or failed tank come into play. If they could get their top 5 pick back THEN you could look at moving a Nylander for another top 5 pick plus and rebuild around AM, that makes sense to me. But without that pick it's a total rebuild and they both go.

@Mainely_Leafs I don't get the love for Gillis but I'm out of the want or prediction game and will just let this play out because I have zero faith in MLSE ownership and by extension Pelley. We will here nothing but 'data' for however long this takes and REAL hockey will take a backseat sadly.

@_knilanderthews Before they break out? Reinhart was a #2 pick and Bennett a #4, they needed a change of scenery, let's not over think it. Maybe the team and coaching had something to do with it. If this is going to be all about math/data then this will fail just for a different reason.

One thing the leafs are terrible at is finding good players before they break out. Grabbing the guy who may be largely responsible for Reinhart, Bennett, Verhaeghe, Forsling, etc would be such a massive win

The more I think about that press conference and all the gibberish we heard the more I’m glad nothing of substance was said. Pelley isn’t a hockey guy and he shouldn’t make hockey decisions. That’s a good thing. They probably shouldn’t have had a press conference at all.

I really don’t think getting the first round pick this year is THAT big of a deal. They aren’t the Panthers where you’re really confident they’ll bounce back next season. The thought of giving back to back now unprotected 1sts to Boston and Philly is scaaaaarrrryyyy.

It’s frankly embarrassing, and an indictment of those that lead us, that gas prices in Canada have spiked to over $2 per litre because of a conflict on the other side of the world. We have, right here in Canada, the fourth largest oil reserves on the planet. Pipelines should have been built 10 years ago. Refineries should have been built 10 years ago. We should have an energy policy that puts Canada, and Canadians, first. This is ridiculous.

I’m not one to dump on pollsters when they produce numbers I don’t like. But numbers are numbers and most reputable pollsters show Carney enjoys the support of a strong plurality or even, by some measures, a majority of Canadians. And I believe that to be true. What I find harder to understand - with every non-answer, every dodge, every half-truth or outright lie, every promise undelivered, every time he looks the other way in the face of rising antisemitism - is why. @logopatt Actually they have 6 interim GMs, which says a lot in itself. I would have 1 assistant GM and replace the other 5 with pro scouts. Pro scouting under this regime has been garbage and what's worse is their plan has been deadline deals and free agents, it makes NO sense at all.
