Knows way too many random facts | PhD in biochemistry/structural biology from Uni of Dundee | Type 1 Diabetic for 32 years out of my 33... HCL insulin pump user

At a music club. My automated insulin delivery system completely failed just as the band began playing, so I had to inject for the first time in ~4 years. Kind of ironic as I’m in the middle of covering #ATTD2026 (#Diabetes technology conference) 💉🫠

I speak to so many people from around the world, who share their stories of hospitalizations. The themes are usually always the same, frequently about what happened to their parent. Busy hospital, overworked staff, things getting missed. It is my firm belief as a doctor for many years: Designating a family member to always be at the bedside is literally almost as LIFESAVING as the treatment! Be prepared in advance. Understand the system has a lot of flaws. And always be that extra set of eyes watching over everything. Be good and polite to the staff— but never assume anything. Hospitals are not as safe as you think.

Royal Iris of the Mersey (formerly Mountwood) departing from Liverpool. Sadly, she is bowing out of service on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, after more than 60 years of service on the River Mersey.

We’re returning to the Moon after 50+ years on February 6, and nobody’s talking about it?
