Amen. Tod Leiweke wants an audit. I'll give him MINE. Don't be a daycare for millionaire athletes to collect big paychecks on the backend of their career after winning a cup elsewhere, having already secured their name in hockey immortality. That is largely what the build strategy from day one was. That doesn't build a hungry forward-looking team. I want dudes that HATE TO LOSE. The woke posturing by the marketing department is a predictable reality that helps sell tickets. Fine. OK. It doesn't need to seep into the lockeroom. The players don't need to be dragged into it like they have been. Some have resented this and are gone as a result. (Don't ask me to prove it. I won't take the bait, believe me, or don't, it's no issue with me either way) Some in the fanbase act as though a traded player is extinguished. Truth is, the players still get to live out their dream, making a fortune elsewhere. They are still on TV if fans want to watch them. It's OK to trade a fan favorite. The fixation on the players feels unnatural & unhealthy at times. Elements of his fanbase are weird. The BookTok controversy?!? Winning a championship is something this organization claims they want. I don't see it. I see an organization that wants to sell tickets to make money as a means to acquiring NBA. The goal is to be good enough for playoff revenue. They can't even do that right. Winning a championship is out of this organization's league. They chase their tail as other organizations plot sensible paths to winning (Ducks, Sharks...). You don't have to be Vegas to put your team on the right path. You do have to choose to win a๐over trying to win customers (fanbase). The aim of ownership, the Leiwekes, and others in the organization is too focused on building a brand & not a champion!
