@hanslope @FarmersWeekly There is some good trial work from @pgroresearch from a few years back suggesting to go with a spring rate of circa 40 seeds/m2 but inevitably maturity a bit later than a true spring type

Taking some risks today in IP29 to get winter beans drilled before the end of the month. I’ve also got to write my next piece for @FarmersWeekly and I literally think I’ll get the sack if I go for another month without any actual farming 🤣😇

15 students in my BASIS group today and not one had heard of a mangel (or mangold). When I was a lad almost every farm barn contained a mangel grinder. Tomorrow, I tell about them how we used to lift potato seed (and fertiliser) around in hundredweight bags, without a forklift!
