🚨 BREAKING: An OpenClaw early contributor just publicly switched to SureThing. He contributed code to the project. Then he found something better. 300,000 emails. Tamed in one hour. Claude failed. Codex failed. His words: "OpenClaw is Linux. I want a Mac." Here's what happened next 👇

@elonmusk Is it open source? Does X have a back door? Can clients communicate peer to peer without a central server in the middle?

All new XChat is rolling out with encryption, vanishing messages and the ability to send any kind of file. Also, audio/video calling. This is built on Rust with (Bitcoin style) encryption, whole new architecture.

@JLightbound Or: you could cut taxes across the board so making things in Canada would be more affordable. That would mean reducing government spending too. That would be putting Canadian workers and industries first. Instead you are putting government first, which won't work.

Today, we’re implementing our #BuyCanadian Policy: the federal government is putting Canadian workers and industries first, creating demand across the country, and rewarding those who invest, innovate, and produce here at home. 🇨🇦

Aujourd’hui, on met en place notre politique #AchetezCanadien : le fédéral met nos travailleurs et industries en premier. Ça crée de la demande partout au pays et favorise ceux qui investissent, innovent et produisent ici. 🇨🇦

@adam3us I want to relay mined blocks because I want to contribute to the robustness of the network. And I want to relay unconfirmed txs with small size ORs because I want to contribute to monetary uses e.g. joinmarket and RGB . I just don't want to help spread non-monetary stuff.

@dazl you could also run blocks-only, and figure out how to turn of block-relaying...

nodes filtering spam doesn't and can't work for very easy to understand reasons: if you impact spammers or miners revenue they will just bypass nodes as they have in the past.

@adam3us Yes of course it will store and relay mined blocks. Nothing I can do about that. So I should have said: if the goal is, don't relay unconfirmed txs ... etc.

@dazl it really doesnt. your node stores the large ORs, and when it receives a compact block it relays them also. a miner using parameters to configure what transactions it will mine, great that works!

@callebtc @giacomozucco "I can't share your religious and political views and therefore I conclude that your technical opinion is necessarily wrong and that everyone who does not agree with me is a knob" may be a weak posture

I often parroted the "kill your hero" bit, but I just had to kill people I superficially supported after some disagreement, often equally superficial. Until now I had not seen my *literal* Bitcoin hero becoming batshit crazy, absurdly arrogant and totally, utterly, hysterically irrational. I guess I was repeating the slogan without real understanding of the horrible feeling. Well, growing up, I guess.

@callebtc I am concerned because one of the options in my bitcoin.conf is being deprecated. I see explanations of why the default is being changed. I do not see explanations of why the option is deprecated. Idea: take the deprecation off the table and stop the name calling?

Did you know that Knots rejects transactions with a locktime set to 21? Most users are just blindly following Luke's mentally questionable astrology. "Your master added new filters. No reviews, just vibes. Please update now". This isn't Bitcoin, this is a clown show.

@lopp If I wanted to help that effort, I would deprecate a configuration option that many users value and say that anyone who suggests that it would be best to keep it is stupid and worse.

If I wanted to stifle Bitcoin, cause stagnation, and prevent it from reaching its full potential... I'd try to convince folks that its most skilled developers are actually a threat.

@ovihood @adam3us @rusty__tillery @LukeDashjr If I am able to set the datacarriersize value, as I have for as long as I have been running a node, I may or may not agree with the default but I can still set the value I prefer, on my node. And that's ok. Drop the deprecation and that part of the controversy goes away.

@dazl @adam3us @rusty__tillery @LukeDashjr not enough. they should drop the default value change. if they love scam/spam so much for sure they can run their nodes with a different value than the default one. don't back off one iota, cause you'll lose your balance after a couple of rounds doing it.

something for knots promoters to muse on: @lukedashjr being a 10th man, immune to peer pressure is a feature. BUT if you enable him, YOU will be peers he is immune to feedback from. and I believe it's a near CERTAINTY this will bite you all within a surprisingly short time-frame.

@rusty__tillery @LukeDashjr I think core should drop deprecation. i'd probably configure datacarriersize=160, but it's somewhat moot as there's no incentive to go above. I think knots are dangerous as they're inadvertently building the architecture for censorship, and flagging authorities to attack bitcoin.

Verifying the Bitcoin blockchain with 16 years of transactions takes 4.5 hours on a MacBook. The entire blockchain fits on an SD card and there'll still be enough space left to fit in the next 16 years. Enough of the FUD already. Bitcoin is doing great.
