Crypto + Macro Stuff I'm Looking At Today ... - $BTC just above $70k - All eyes on Iran situation - Oil up and inflation expectations up which means interest rate path expectations up - With that said, I am still short oil and think this all ends up as a nothingburger in the end (we shall see though!) - Also Warsh replacing Powell in two months and I think he will cut regardless of what is happening with the above (although the bond market is pricing in no more cuts this year interestingly...) - Dow Jones/Tradexyz/Hyperliquid stonk perps generated a ton of excitement this week - with Hyperliquid being in WSJ Print and Citrini also talking about it... - All eyes on Clarity Act and whether it will get passed and etc, with odds of it passing surging on Polymarket over the last couple days - DefiLlama released an alternative to 'Coinbase Commerce' to much acclaim - $2.2B in FTX payouts coming later this month - Grayscale files S1 for $HYPE ETF - Gold and silver both down bigly over last couple weeks - Big job cuts at Gemini, Messari, and other large orgs both inside and outside of crypto - Stripe-backed chain 'Tempo' launched its mainnet this week - Kalshi raises $1B+ at $22B valuation - New home sales data came in looking quite bleak, as US real estate still 'frozen' due to high rates - Jupiter launches pre-IPO trading via 'PreStocks' - Kraken postponed their IPO due to market conditions - Coinbase $COIN continuing to build our stock trading and perps trading and combination of two - PumpFun hit $1B in cumulative revenue - $KAT token from Katana went live - Polymarket acquired BrahmaFi - Checked on some old memecoin prices and man they are in absolute goblintown... could see some pumping hard once market turns around... Conclusion Very interesting time in markets lads! Easy to see paths much lower and much higher depending on what happens with Iran and AI job losses and etc... crypto twitter is dead. virtual communities are dead. not in a dramatic way just… hollow like somewhere that used to matter and now it’s just people talking at each other and that’s a problem because you keep saying you want more… a better career a real startup to actually get good at something but the places that used to compress time for you don’t work like they used to this market is quiet and in that quiet you can see everything who’s building who’s coping who’s just addicted to attention it used to be different you could drop into a space join a random groupchat and meet someone who changes your trajectory founders builders people with actual motion there was density even when the market was down now it feels… thin and worthless overrun with performance rage bait people who lost money and became too complacent and most of you didn’t leave you adapted to it you stayed in the chats kept chasing attention from people who can’t move your life an inch no capital no opportunity no signal just noise feeding noise and the truth is it didn’t just happen to ct we let it happen we let the wrong crowd take over we rewarded it we amplified it we stayed so now it’s a desert and the only real communities left? they’re not here they’re offline in rooms in cities in conversations that don’t get posted that’s where the signal went and if you’re still waiting for it to come back on your timeline you’re already late
