@SlimJimIrsay You know I do, but more unknowns w UK hoops. Could be better than we expect or drastically worse. Time will tell when the roster is set and we start hooping

Considering how much emphasis we put on this off-season, it’s disappointing how it’s turned out. Roster isn’t set yet & things could still happen, but a lot of unknowns on this team that don’t make you feel like this will be a team who can be dangerous. Time will tell

Sources: Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby is checking into a residential treatment program for a gambling addiction. He’s under NCAA investigation in the wake of the discovery of Sorsby making thousands of bets via a gambling app. espn.com/college-footba…

@JerrodBaker1 Both sides benefitted when we were here. Point is UK is bigger than Cal. People just want to push whatever narrative they want. Old act

@Fly_Cards86 @TaninSmithKK This is a pretty obvious point. All the coaches pre cal made Kentucky what it was when Cal got here, which furthers her point that Cal didn’t create the Kentucky brand😂. They coincide with one another, brands aren’t formed with bad coaches

@TaninSmithKK No, you all sucked before Cal got there with Billy G, you sucked with Tubby, except when he had Pitinos players, you almost got the death penalty, then Pitino saved your asses. And now you’re sucking it with Pope. The coaches made Kentucky, not the other way around

This conversation will never die man like can we stop with this? Calipari’s brand was not bigger than Kentucky until he got to Kentucky. UK 100% enhanced Calipari’s brand. There’s no debating that. Then, he used Kentucky to sell recruits on preparing for the league Coach Cal is a career underachiever, but he can get elite players to commit to him because he tells them to their face that he only cares about getting them to the league and making their dreams come true. It’s made him the greatest recruiter of all time, but if Anthony Davis wasn’t the best player in CBB history, he would have ZERO championships in his career. He actively insinuated that he didn’t care about winning and wanted to get kids to the NBA. He was the only coach willing to openly admit that, so players loved him and viewed him as the coach they wanna play for. These highly rated recruits care more about getting to the league than winning in college, so that sells Kentucky benefitted from Calipari, and Calipari benefitted from Kentucky. This conversation about what the “brand” was is just so dumb. Kentucky is objectively the biggest brand in college basketball as far as specific programs go. Duke is the only other program in the conversation.

@brycejallday Still up for debate but dude gets a bad wrap. We’ll see how it plays out. Will know after this year whether he makes it or not. Hurley STUNK his first 4 yrs at UCONN. New experience for Pope tha he’ll have to figure out quickly

@DeLaBooze44 UNLESS you have one of the top coaches in the sport like a Dusty May or Hurley, can UK get one of those? Yes, but it definitely ain’t Pope that’s gonna turn it around

counterpoint: Calipari and the Kentucky brand became one and the same, they fused together and without him, Kentucky now has no identity outside of being a dying blue blood much in the way of UCLA and Indiana when their legendary coaches left

@brycejallday I agree, playing field is more even. But you don’t think basketball had massive changes from 1940 to pre NIL? There’s always drastic changes & UK has always maneuvered it. Kentucky will not be irrelevant I assure you

@DeLaBooze44 that’s cool but that wasn’t in the NIL era, so it’s a totally different playing field now to “figure it out” in than it ever has been…it’s not even just a Kentucky thing, it’s gonna be hard for all these big programs that had advantages to replicate that going forward

@brycejallday No, he underachieved his last 5 yrs. Point is the IU & UCLA comparisons aren’t comparable. Kentucky has lost 4 legendary coaches before & figured it out after. Cal reinvigorated Kentucky in a time we needed it, but didn’t make Kentucky what it is overall, just in that time

@DeLaBooze44 Cal built y’all up to something that was larger than life and bigger than sports, y’all had Drake as a superfan because he liked Cal, Cal’s absolutely part of why y’all are going through it right now because he made it where there was no longer a Kentucky identity, just Cal U

@brycejallday A couple years isn’t dying. All programs go through it. If we’re dying, your current coach had a large reason for it. Also, the coach argument doesn’t stick at UK. Every coach had won a title besides Billy G & Pope. More than a 1 coach type program
