A horrifying number of people have not been genuinely held, comforted, touched, or shown physical tenderness in so long that their nervous system has started adapting to affection deprivation as a normal human condition. Over time the body begins adapting to emotional deprivation the same way it adapts to survival conditions: hypervigilance, emotional numbing, difficulty relaxing, chronic loneliness, depression, anxiety, sleep disruption, elevated stress hormones, and eventually a nervous system that no longer fully believes comfort, softness, or safety are meant for it. The human nervous system was never meant to survive this much emotional isolation without consequences. People are adapting to conditions they were never biologically designed to live in.

I'm about to go out on the road myself. My lease is up on a few days and Ive sold almost everything I own. But gas prices being sky high have got me considering just using one of my bomb proof 4 cylinder Volvo Wagons to car camp and prospect out of. If need be I can tow a small trailer or maybe get a roof top tent. I haven't had the "Aha!" Moment yet. But getting 25 miles per gallon sounds a lot better right now than the 6-8 I'd get towing a large camper or driving a motorhome. Obviously I'm giving up a lot of room for activities going this route though 🤷🤔

An old friend of mine who has lived on the road continuously for over 45 years swears by the "over the roof" style racks. He puts them over small, 4cyl 5-speed 4WD pickups (typically Rangers) and loads his long-term camping gear onto the top. The truck bed is for overnighting in between long-term encampments. He typically camps on BLM land for 14-day stints or moves between several tiny parcels of land he owns in OR, ND, and CA, where he intermittently works as a surveyor. Under his bedding in the truck bed, he keeps rubber totes for his food, clothes, books, and gear. Keeps a cooler in one of them. He bolts a Wal-Mart propane stove to the tailgate and that's his kitchen. He does not keep a cab on it -- opts instead for a homemade tent fly setup under the rack with sewn-in bug netting. This guy is old-school, master-class, been doing it for his whole life. Prefers this setup to anything else. He's tried step-vans, box vans, Sprinters, buses, mini-buses, truck campers, and tow behinds. He's convinced that the "over the roof rack" combined with the 4cyl truck is the absolute best you could do, and I'm inclined to agree. Obivously if you've got more than 2 kids, you'll need to upgrade, but for a single person, couple, or small family, I'm convinced this is the way to do it for full-timers. Stealthy, low-key, small, good MPG, go anywhere, a real "do-it-all" setup. This picture is not his truck, just an example of the type of rack he uses.

@martian_lore Co-op is a nice compromise. They'll replace things when necessary, though sometimes send the budget guy. Rent doesn't go up much though, if at all.

La Pine, Oregon is not Bend, Oregon and builders are getting caught trying to capture the demographic that used to simply try to be near (30 miles south). They are gone and prices are down 11-12% YOY. This small builder has dropped the price $80k (interestingly 11%) total so far and is getting desperate with his $40k cut today.

I had to look it up and I went all the way back 15 seasons and there's ZERO historical precedent in the past 15 seasons of any player putting up stats as good or better than Shaedon just did this season that turned out to be a 6th or 7th man on a mid team in the 3-5 years following their achievement. It literally just doesn't happen The data literally just destroy your argument. In the past 15 seasons 14 players have matched or exceeded Shaedons production this year. Every single one became at least a multiple time all star or a superstar. There's only 8 players who matched Shaedons production on teams with winning records. Theyre literally all super stars. First image is the 14 who did it regardless of record. Second image is the 9 others who did it on winning teams. According to you Shaedon will be the only one who did what he did that just didn't pan out cuz "reasons" 🤣🤣🤣

He plays nothing like Dame at all. But he's doing just fine. Dame put up worse numbers at 22 on a team that only won 33 games. It's a great comp though because when Dame put up his numbers it was done to wild applause. And when Shaedon is actually doing more with better efficiency on a much better team at the same age - it's "he sucks and he will never be a star". It's actually comical. Like what would his stat line have to look like for you to be like "yea there's something there, that's a future star!" ? Like: 1% better 3p% and 1 less turnover, and 1 more assist per game? If he put up 21 4 and 5r on 35.5% 3p% and only 2 turnovers you'd have to admit he was wildly successful for a 22 year old on the 7th seed... You really don't think he's heading for that? He's going to eclipse these numbers by age 25. He's a 25, 5 and 5 guy with 1.5 stocks within 2 years. I'm not concerned at all that he won't cut down the turnovers. He literally took on a savage new role this year, with a chaotic coaching change and he took it and his new role in stride.

He's fulfilling the role he's being asked to fulfill. You don't just randomly hit 30% usg without the coaching staff making it abundantly clear you have the green light to expand your game at the expense of short term fundamentals. It pays off more if we have a player that can do that stuff than to have a player who only plays it safe. They clearly see him as someone who can do that stuff and will increase his efficiency at it with experience in the role of 1A / 1B in the offense. And we "got better" when Shaedon went out because we played a far easier schedule. 🤣 Shae did what he did during one of the hardest SOS segments in the league this year. It's crazy to sleep on him.

"Free to good home" Weird to just put your stuff outside for free. Strangers come up and casually touch them and decide is this worth taking? So much energy and memories in each piece. Hundreds of dinners with someone I guess I never knew on that coffee table. How many hundreds of hours of music were listened to after walking up to that home theater rack and all the heavy equipment it silently and strongly held? How many prime cuts and roasts did I create on that smoker - only to be offered up to no great applause? The two white end tables held crucial components in my recording studio for the last 2 years. They were loved; By me at least. Now I leave them by the side of the road and abandon them to some unknown fate. The structure they were a part of is now barely more than ruins. They sit by the side of the road, waiting.. My energy still permeates their molecules but soon that will fade too. And then nothing remains but my memories - and after that - the abomination of desolation.
