@leo__oliveira The colors I can see on the component are: GRAY, GRAY, BROWN, RED, YELLOW or GOLD? Is this capacitor okay? Are the pF values correct?
English

@leo__oliveira Another question. Behind the PCB there's a resistor, but when I measure it with a multimeter, it doesn't read any ohms. If I remove it from the PCB, it still doesn't register anything. But if I measure it with my LCR-P component tester, it detects it as a capacitor and read 122pF

English

@leo__oliveira Okay. I'll measure the 5540 with the multimeter to see if there are any shorts. I'll let you know soon. I have another question: Does a corrupted BIOS affect whether the Mega CD will turn on? Thank you very much for your help.
English

@leo__oliveira Yes, I figured as much. But is there any way to test it with a multimeter?

@DeVlLT If the chip in the connect bd is broken, it will make the communication between the CD and the MD impossible
English

@leo__oliveira I don't know anyone who has a Mega CD-1. My Mega CD won't even start; the screen just stays black. The Access and Ready LEDs are off. I've checked all the fuses, and they're fine, as are the voltages. The Mega CD's main board has 5V.
English

@DeVlLT Can you obtain a pal or us mega/sega-cd to borrow the direct connect board to test? It will boot but with bad graphics that look like this:

English

@leo__oliveira How can I check if this PCB is faulty? The PCB has two wires, TH1 and TH2, which connect to a mini PCB. Here's a photo.

English

@DeVlLT If it's inserted backwards a pin on the MD side supplies 9v which damages the SEGA custom IC (Fujisu gate array).
It's actually pretty easy to insert it backwards and damage the IC.

@leo__oliveira I have a Japanese Mega CD-1. I bought it recently and it's broken. The Mega CD won't start; none of the power LEDs light up. The Japanese Mega Drive I have plugged in works perfectly. I've completely recapped all three PCBs, but the result is the same.

OMG IT WORKS!! 🥳 Selfbootable #PS1 CD-R! No modchip!
That's a huge progress since last time but there are big reliability issues and I'm not sure that this can be fixed using my method. Increase the sound to hear the PS1 struggling to read the disc. More details below.

@david4599_hex Hello again. I forgot to ask for your blog. Can you give me the link? Thanks
English

@DeVlLT Not the 700x, but most 750x, every 900x and every PSone 10x (PU-22, PU-23 and PM-41 boards to be precise). Basically, they have tighter tolerances and my wobble patterns must be less spaced but this disturbs the lens too much and I couldn't find a good compromise.
English

@david4599_hex Ok. Well, I'm looking forward to reading your blog with the detailed information. Thanks for your responses. 😉
English

@DeVlLT Yep it's definitely better with new tricks I found recently even though there are still downsides like the late PS1 models not supported. Right now, I'm documenting the project in a small blog I'm building and unless I become busy, it should be released in a few weeks I hope.
