@RohanGod_ But I'd argue you need to consider how difficult it is in both winning and losing situations. Otherwise, Tic Tac Toe from your argument is an immensely difficult game, because it's impossible to win from a losing position.

@DeadlyFatalis well yeah ofc? the point is that the easier it is to play from a losing position, the less punishing the game is overall and the easier it is

League of Legends is a lot harder than Deadlock. In fact, I no longer think it’s comparable. I don’t think it CAN be comparable with Deadlock’s current systems. That’s not to say that DL is an easy game at all bt! I still think Deadlock’s mechanical ceiling COMPLETELY blows League’s out of the water, and the macro aspect isn’t too far behind League’s either. However, n of that matters when the game holds your hand by injecting a gold-hack onto your account as a reward for getting your back absolutely blown out in lane. My sudden jump in opinion between games comes down to literally 1 factor. Punishment. In LoL, snowballing and the ability to 1v9 carry off of winning lane has been massively toned down over the years. It’s actually basically nonexistent today compared to 10 seasons ago, where you’d land 2 solokills on good wavestates toplane and be 4 levels up on the lobby 10 minutes later. However, there’s still a significant degree of punishment you’ll face from making stupid mistakes in lane. Make consecutive mistakes in lane and you can outright ruin your entire game, nearly irreparably. Deadlock in it’s current state is basically the polar opposite lol. Sometimes, you can actually die 4-5+ times in lane and only be marginally behind (sometimes even if your team gets the comeback urns) 10 minutes later. I think it’s a combination of comeback mechanics being WAY too strong and a lack of a 3rd neutral objective. Obviously, it’s also cause of a general lack of coordination resulting in more throws, but this is an unfixable problem. Welcome to solo queue ladders in team based games 😭 I still think Deadlock’s mechanical ceiling COMPLETELY blows League’s out of the water, and the macro aspect isn’t too far behind League’s either. None of that matters when the game holds your hand by injecting a gold-hack onto your account as a reward for getting your back blown out in lane. I also do think the souls system makes snowball very tricky to balance, since gold and exp are combined into 1 resource. Making snowball a tiny bit higher can tip the scales and make mid-game demons (Mina Celeste Yamato Apollo etc) completely thanos exodia overpowered, they are already strong af LMAO. I’d honestly like to see a non-money related neutral objective (LoL dragon soul equivalent) put into DL before nerfing comeback souls. OBVIOUS DISCLAIMER: All of this is subject to change since DL still isn’t complete. But, as of now, I just don’t think DL is punishing enough to compare to LoL in difficulty.

@RohanGod_ So if those comeback mechanics are applied against you, it makes it that much harder to win. You're not always benefitting from the comeback factor, if you're winning, you need to overcome it, and have to be better than roided out opponents. Does that not require skill?

@DeadlyFatalis yes you absolutely can? league has gold + obj shutdowns and you get exponentially more exp for killing someone higher leveled than you it's not about believing anything, deadlock's comeback mechanics are just that strong? that's not really a debatable topic lol

@RohanGod_ But then it's just as I said initially, if you make a mistake in Deadlock, your opponent gets "roided out" comeback mechanics, is that not punishing? If it's easier to win while losing, that also must mean it's easier to lose while winning.

@DeadlyFatalis not necessarily, depends on a combination of how badly + when you mess up. even if you're giga-ahead, if you fuck up and die on a bad timer you can definitely solo lose the game, the comeback mechanics in league definitely aren't weak - they just arent roided out like DL

@RohanGod_ The comeback mechanics are the punishment. You can't throw a soul/gold lead in LoL the same way you can throw in Deadlock. If you believe the comeback mechanics are are strong as you say, then that is the punishment when you make a mistake that you shouldn't be making.

@RohanGod_ Doesn't the opposite apply when winning? If you're winning in LoL, even if you mess up, the comeback mechanics are weak, so you're going to still win. You need to be perfect in DL while winning, because the comeback mechanics are so strong that small mistakes risk losing.

@ryandangeremma @d1mitreuzz @AlJR86 @xonebros I'm saying all the information is readily available. You can watch and consume as much or as little as you need to make a decision. It's not like we're back in the 90s where information about games were scarce and reviews were the only way to gather information.

@d1mitreuzz @DeadlyFatalis @AlJR86 @xonebros You watched an entire playthrough of a four hour game in order to determine whether or not you wanted to then buy it and play it while also reading various reviews too. Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

“Who cares?” is the disconnect. Gamers care because review scores shape perception, buying decisions, and which games get taken seriously. It is not about one IGN score. It is about players feeling like the media keeps dismissing games they love, then acting surprised and treating gamers like we’re crazy when we notice.
Paul Tassi@PaulTassi

Beat Mixtape. Did not especially like it, but I truly don't understand why people are losing their minds over it. Because IGN gave it a 10? Who cares? Nostalgia didn't quite hit me. I'm a little younger than these guys and I was mostly listening to uh, Blink-182 and Linkin Park

@hiSwaps It's an item design that been in Dota for over a decade. You can buy Silence Wave (which you might have been buying anyways) pop indomitable and still ult, and you just made the enemy waste 6400 souls.

I feel like each patch notes will be directly aimed towards making the game easier, like indomitable item automatically canceling any cc is kinda lame items like counterspell/dispel magic requires you to use them mid-game right before the disaster, but indomitable just does it for you, regardless being t4 item, i still find it lame when I started playing deadlock, I immediately loved the game due to it's complexity and learning curve, especially when most game-devs nowadays purposely cater to casuals, I really don't want deadlock to become a casual type of game where most X items/heroes just easily does it for you

@BLZBLUaz Wait for a new game to come out like Invincible or Avatar. There's still people who will be good at the game due to legacy skill that carries over, but it's as close to an level playing field as it gets.

@agente_b7 @starsuper64 They literally got paid with in game rewards if they won, of course they mobilized to do it. You really saying if a company said, vote in this poll and if we win I'll credit your account in game with $20 you wouldn't do it? It's a no brainer if you play the game.

@ab_ch2 @juiceetin A race after considering the stats and the money is worth ~40 random stats. G1s especially with epithets are worth a lot more. A training needs to be really good to be worth it over racing.

@DieChanc3 @CyroosTethering Once the first mark is applied, it has infinite range to get the next marks, so after an initial skirmish, you can run back let ricochet build up marks from safety and press 3 to blow up the team. The fantasy is blowing up an entire team and instantly turning a fight.
