@QueerCantHear We have had reports of some appointments not being filled by the contractor but no reason given for this / and ‘a shortage’ is a strange thing to say. I would suggest contacting the Trust’s Patient Experience Team to raise concerns?

Newcastle deafies and terp pals: My consultant receptionist has informed me that they 'cannot guarantee that an interpreter will be booked for next appointment due to trust shortage' That to me sounds...v illegal, but has anyone else recently experienced similar/what do I do?

@NRCPD @Dukevfr Expansion of register categories NOT the answer. In long term it creates MORE problems. The issues we have now is from mistakes 20 years ago - need to revisit and learn what those are and THEN avoid mistakes and involve Deaf people MORE in processes/ educating/ training, etc

@Dukevfr 1/2 Hi Tony, we agree. We definitely need more professionals (and of the right standards) on the registers to meet the increasing demand. Our current strategy involves developing the professions on the registers through richer post-qualification development, authoritative

@NRCPD @Dukevfr Not just ‘right’ but safe and high standards. But how do you set a high benchmark with such a fragmented system and extreme differences in training/ skills and quality :(
