Let us be clear: this is not a debate about the Middle East. Hanging effigies of Jews in the streets of Montreal evokes some of the darkest antisemitic imagery in history and is completely unacceptable. This is not “peaceful activism.” It is the promotion of hatred and the incitement of violence that fuels the radicalization of our social climate. What will it take for authorities to treat these acts as the serious threat they are?

Voir des effigies de Juifs pendues symboliquement dans les rues de Montréal renvoie à une imagerie antisémite profondément inquiétante et totalement inacceptable.   L’utilisation de cordes de pendaison ne relève pas du  «militantisme pacifique» . Elle constitue une forme d’intimidation et un appel implicite à la violence qui contribue à la radicalisation du climat social. Quand les autorités vont-elles le traiter comme tel.

Today, I spoke with the President Herzog of Israel. I reiterated that the appalling treatment of civilians aboard the Gaza-bound flotilla was unacceptable, and that respect for human dignity must be upheld everywhere, at all times. I underlined the imperative of de-escalation in the Middle East, and the importance of a genuine resumption of dialogue among all parties. Progress toward peace and stability in the region must remain the clear, shared objective.

Someone at @APTNtv needs to be held accountable for this scandal. MPs need to get to the bottom of it. Pure waste of tax payer dollars is what they’ve done here with this whole debacle.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! APTN collaborated with the CBC on a so-called “prank” show that mocked Canadian heritage and the people working to preserve our history. When one of the individuals invited to be on the show asked APTN what role it played, the Director of Comms tried to dodge accountability entirely — except that she accidentally sent it to the wrong person 😳 Canadians deserve to know why public dollars were used to humiliate people instead of informing the public. Lindsey deserves answers. @NewWorldHominin Canadians deserve answers.

I tried asking APTN what their involvement is in the CBC "prank show." Their comms director accidentally sent me an internal email stating that they were going to ignore my inquiry because I'm just a lowly Canadian citizen and not a media outlet (not that they will give a sufficient answer to the media either.) I followed up and asked who I can contact then, and they just didn't respond. It's actually crazy that these taxpayer-supported institutions think that they don't need to answer to anyone. They don't even think I deserve a modicum of an answer to my questions, even though they shouldn't be difficult to respond to.

Last week the CRTC announced it will triple the streaming tax from 5% to 15%. This tax will drive up the cost of living for Canadians because it will get passed on to consumers. Just this weekend, Spotify announced higher subscription costs. This is only the beginning. The cost of living for Canadians is already high enough. This new tax will only make things worse. The Carney Liberals must reject the CRTC’s decision.
