I use gpt-5.3-codex mostly which isn't even in the API so the numbers are not fully accurate. Spark is another topic that comes with its own limit. Regardless, I think it's fair to say you get at least like 10x more out of a Pro subscription than using the API!

If this calculation is correct a $200 Pro Plan gives me around $130 worth of tokens every day, or $910 per week, $3'640 per month. Even if I factor in the current double usage limit thats still $1'820/month worth of tokens I get for the Pro subscription

@simpsoka @OpenAI Maybe not exactly the same amount still needs to be profitable. But as you get access to other features with a subscription it's fair to me if you only buy credits for codex to have a bit more usage

@simpsoka @OpenAI It's better to make more accounts instead of spending 40 euros on credits. You all should make the 40 euro credits give the same amount of usage as 2 plus accounts for a month I would consider buying credits to keep all of my usage on one account

The Codex App is now our most used surface, ahead of the VS Code extension and the CLI. No wonder it inspires a few others 👀 You can install it here openai.com/codex/ + you get up to $500 in credits if you are getting started as a business or enterprise.

A French container ship became the first vessel linked to Western Europe to leave the Strait of Hormuz after the start of the Iran war, Bloomberg reported. According to ship-tracking data, on April 2, CMA CGM Kribi sailed from waters off Dubai toward Iran, signaling that its owner was French. It stuck close to the Iranian coast, moving through a channel between the islands of Qeshm and Larak, openly broadcasting its journey. This morning, the ship signaled that it was off the coast of Muscat, and Bloomberg sources confirmed that the vessel successfully crossed the strait.

❗️ War in the Middle East could lead to the collapse of the global economy - ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has almost completely stopped. ◾️ Over the past 24 hours, only two commercial vessels have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, and not a single oil tanker, the Joint Maritime Information Center said. ◾️ This is a key energy artery of the world: normally, about 20% of all oil passes through it. If tanker traffic stops, the world could lose up to 15-20 million barrels per day. ◾️ In the event of a protracted crisis, oil prices could soar to $120-150 per barrel, leading to higher fuel prices, inflation, a decline in production, and the risk of a global recession. ◾️ Europe and Asia, which are critically dependent on oil from the Persian Gulf, are already feeling the biggest impact. ◾️ Fuel flows from the Middle East have fallen by about 90%, and in Singapore, bunker fuel prices have already risen by more than 40%. In fact, the energy crisis has already begun in Asia. ◾️ More and more experts are pointing out that the Strait of Hormuz is blocked not only by war but also by insurance companies that have canceled insurance for global ocean commercial tonnage due to military risks in the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and all Iranian territorial waters. 📹: Ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours.

Our Codex dashboards are showing increased rate of users hitting rate limits and since we don't fully understand why I have made the cautious decision of resetting the usage limits for all plans. Enjoy. I also wanted to celebrate us finding a pocket of fraudulent accounts that we banned and have helped us regain some compute. The fight against abuse never stops, but it's important to mark the moment and make it a little shared victory.

over the past few days, I’ve been working almost entirely in Codex with GPT-5.4 xhigh. Cursor and Claude Code feel like toys compared to the quality and depth. but man, I really hope we move on from this CLI developer-experience slop soon. Codex Desktop still has a long way to go, although the direction feels right.

Quinnie Lore Unveiled at the launch of the IYQ at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris on 4 February, Quinnie has been drawn by Jorge Cham, the creator of the long-running cartoon strip PHD Comics. Quinnie was developed for UNESCO in a collaboration between Cham and Physics Magazine, which is published by the American Physical Society (APS) – one of the founding partners of IYQ. “Quinnie represents a young generation approaching quantum science with passion, ingenuity, and energy,” says Physics editor Matteo Rini. “We imagine her effortlessly surfing on quantum-mechanical wave functions and playfully engaging with the knottiest quantum ideas, from entanglement to duality.” Quinnie is set to appear in a series of animated cartoons that the APS will release throughout the year.
