On this day in 1981, with 8 games of the season left and the Reds in 3rd in Div 3 behind Charlton Athletic and Rotherham United, Norman Hunter took his team to Chester and goals from Derrick Parker and a last minute equaliser by Ronnie Glavin earned a 2-2 draw. The result left the Reds in 4th on goal difference behind Huddersfield Town. Chester City (the suffix was added in 1983) competed in Divisions 3 and 4 until relegation from the Football League in 2000.
