IMO, the targeted audience is different for Indian soaps and foreign dramas. The Indian series still targets TV-watching audiences who are either housemakers or engaged in informal labor, while the Asian dramas are created for export, which makes young tech-savvy people their targeted audiences.

Foreign shows (Korean, Chinese, etc) often portray heroine as educated, ambitious, independent.
Meanwhile, 99% of Indian TV serials glorify the "uneducated, sacrificing heroine" while making the educated, successful woman the villain.
