@miss_barnes11 It's so easy in the technologically savvy world that we live in to educate students about the world around them. Developing open minded learners who are interested and curious of the world around them.

Mansilla and Jackson state the importance of teaching global competence. Children become aware, curious and interested in the world therefore able to address various SDGS resulting in a healthier future for all. #UONTEACH #EDUC4750 asiasociety.org/files/book-glo…

@miss_barnes11 It's also so important to teach students what happens to waste after it goes in the bin. It doesn't just miraculously vanish, there is a whole process and most will sit in landfill for a lifetime or two.

Waste is such an important issue for our planet and being educated on the types of waste is essential. I completely agree all aspects of waste need to be addressed in schools to educate the younger generation. #UonTeach #EDUC4750 #SDG12
Amber Franks@AmberLeeFranks

When developing a unit plan on #sustainability it is important to consider all aspects of #waste including #medicalwaste #foodwaste and #ewaste to provide students with the chance to show interest and direction in the classroom #SDG12 what would your #wastefocus be?

@miss_barnes11 I was reading that the wrappers on Easter eggs are recyclable if they are formed into a large ball. I wasn't aware of this. An eco-friendly tip would be to put up signs in shopping centres so people are aware. Even have donation bins for people to recycle their egg wrappers.

Remember to save plastic Easter eggs for next year or donate them instead of them going to landfill. Quote this tweet if you have any innovative ideas on how you could reuse these at home? #SDG12 #UONTEACH #EDUC4750

After the Easter egg hunt, make sure not to throw away those plastic Easter eggs. Reuse them for next year or donate them. Do you have any eco-friendly tips for celebrating Easter? If you do, share your ideas, pics, or video and use the hashtag #HowISaveThePlanet.

@DeavesMrs Thankyou for sharing @DeavesMrs. This is a great way to start meaningful conversations about our vegetable intake. In my opinion I really do believe these type of campaigns can be very effective.

A great idea to get everyday people thinking about their veggie intake and perhaps making a change for the better. But, how effective do we think campaigns like this actually are in getting people to eat healthier? #Educ4750 #UoNTeach #SDG3

Congrats to @OMA_Australia and @healthgovau on a great campaign 👏 We've loved supporting such an important campaign and will continue to work towards increasing Australians' vegetable intake! #AddVeggies #ExtraVeggies

@miss_barnes11 We are very fortunate that this is something we don't really have to think about. I think that makes it even more important to educate students about other countries as many wouldn't be aware of this.

Water is essential for children's wellbeing and good health. It's important to teach children to make healthy drink choices as well as the health benefits that comes from drinking enough water everyday. #Educ4750 #UoNTeach #SDG3

On #NationalChildHealthDay, we recognize how important clean, safe drinking water is for keeping children healthy. Our Water Quality group performs thousands of tests each year to ensure our community has access to clean, safe water every day. #water #drinkingwater #healthykids

@DeavesMrs Some ways cafes can make the swap and be @sustainable could be using no single-use plastics, only using reusable coffee cups and engage with groups such as @OzHarvest to minimise food wastage 🥦🌎🥕 What do you think?

@DeavesMrs What a great concept! Another idea would be allowing the students to cook and film the video for their parents and carers. This allows the students to be excited about what they are cooking and eating. To incorporate #SDG12 they could cook using their produce from a vege garden.

Another way to reduce pollution and reuse plastics in addressing #sdg12 #sdg14 - this would be an excellent idea for a space-saving classroom garden. I love @BrittHunt s idea of family involvement in a school based project, especially if the community gets the produce. #educ4750
Brittany Hunt@BrittHunt

PLASTIC BOTTLE RECYCLING A vertical garden is low budget and sustainable! Students and families can get involved by donating used bottles to transform them into a garden within school. This directly corresponds with #SDG14 to reduce marine pollution from land-activity #Educ4750

I love the incentive to #reduce and #repurposefood waste after #CrunchandSip. Although it’s not form our area, I have attached a PDF that details how to set up a school #composting system & #wormfarming program & involve S in the learning/responsibility related to it & #sdg12.
Katelyn Woods@Miss_KWoods

#CrunchandSip is a great way to allow our students to focus on getting their 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Why not share the benefits of composting their food scraps whilst they are eating? #SDG12 #UoNteach #Educ4750
