A prominent academy trust CEO has said leaders need to 'call out' schools that 'attempt to curate their rolls' schoolsweek.co.uk/call-out-schoo…

Two things can be true at once. Rayner was foolish in her conduct and right to resign. It’s also true she was always despised by much of the right wing press because she was a working class powerful woman. She was therefore threatening to them, because she authentically spoke for the same people they (erroneously) claim to speak for and could not be dismissed as a liberal elite- their favoured tactic with anyone they don’t like. She’s therefore been the subject to endless snobbery and classism and extra scrutiny from day 1- another reason she was foolish not to be meticulous.

A big “welcome back” to all our staff today who are returning for INSET on this, the 1 Sept, and a big “welcome to the family” to Bents Green School and Nottingham HOPE Academy, both opening as new schools today. The summer’s been great - the autumn will be even better!

Honoured to be awarded a Knighthood for services to education by HM the King at Windsor Castle yesterday.

It’s a real privilege interviewing senior leaders. Today, we were blown away by the quality of candidates for VP posts @York_High. Passionate, child-centred, highly skilled, impressive experience & track records… & genuinely nice people. = GREAT appointments. Exciting times!
