This bugs me. @gcollinstx literally worked for her billionaire daddy at a reading gamification company @Istationed in Dallas where it was piloted in all the major Texas districts like @FortWorthISD, @dallasschools, @TerrellISD, @HoustonISD and @RichardsonISD in 2003 and now all of those districts have DECLINED in reading. “Collins is the head of corporate strategy at Istation, which she describes as an education technology firm that helps students and teachers reach their academic goals.” But it gets better…Colins is now working for the Koch-funded @AFPhq and pushing vouchers because…WAIT FOR IT…she says kids can’t read. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ dallasnews.com/news/politics/…

With Tennessee AND Texas repudiating vouchers, now is a good time for this moral reminder: Public education is a common moral good. It is provided by everyone FOR everyone. Parents, both public and private ed folks, know this. They want ALL educated— not just their own kids!

Society’s ills—poverty, social instability—are inherited by public schools. Instead of addressing those problems, @GregAbbott_TX wants to defund #txed further & divert that money to private schools that will NOT take those children. This is the injustice of vouchers. #txlege
Pastors for Children@pastors4txkids

Why the incessant attacks on public education? To end multi-cultural democracy & replace it with a theocracy. Who is funding it? Rightwing extremist billionaires Charles Koch @KochIndustries, @BetsyDeVos, @timdunntexas, Wilks, et al Who can stop it? YOU & YOUR VOTE! #txlege

The voucher scam has always been a grift. Ill-gotten gain of your tax money for private purpose. That’s why billionaire @BetsyDeVos and the @GregAbbott_TX voucher vultures have descended on Texas. Parent choice? What a lie! It’s personal profiteering at the public trough.
San Angelo LIVE!@SanAngeloLIVE

5% for the 'Big Guy' @DeAngelisCorey In the final bill proposed to create the taxpayer-funded private school voucher scheme, the proposed legislation allows the Texas comptroller to hire at least one (1) Certified Educational Assistance Organizations (CEAO) that will hand out the voucher cash to the private schools based upon voucher-participating students managed by said CEAO. The CEAO, the 'Big Guy', gets 5% of the gross amount. The voucher bill was programmed to cost around $461 million a year in 2025. This mean's Corey's bosses, the 'Big Guy', will get a $23 million windfall the first year. In 2026, vouchers will cost $1.9 billion and Corey's bosses will get $95 million of our tax dollars. By 2028, the cost of the vouchers increase to $2.3 billion, netting Corey's bosses $115 million a year. Corey's take by year: 2025: $ 23 million 2026: $ 95 million 2027: $ 95 million (at least!) 2028: $115 million -------------------- Total GRIFT by @DeAngelisCorey and his bosses in 4 years? $328 million -- about 1/3 a billion bucks! That's a WINDFALL! And they are getting paid that to GIVE OUT YOUR TAX DOLLARS to rich families living in Cinco Ranch so they can send their kids to Strake Jesuit-- all on your dime! No wonder AFC Victory Fund spent $millions and $millions lying to rural Republican voters this year (about a the border crisis, not vouchers)! When Michigan billionaire @BetsyDeVos can spend tens of millions to malign anti-voucher House R’s But teachers can’t encourage each other to vote for #txed without @KenPaxtonTX suing them, Tyranny is knocking at our door. VOTE like your life depends on it. Because it does.

Take the time to read the article below - a few billionaires have paid off some of our top elected officials to dismantle public education. This is why you see behavior from certain officials you haven’t in the past & an attempt to berate Rs that represent their constituents.

.@GregAbbott_TX will lose his pathetic revenge project. Miserably. His voucher obsession will embarrass him once again. His billionaires may keep writing him checks but he will fail. Again. For the 6th time. Texans know vouchers are corrupt. Go vote #txed! Tomorrow!!

Easily at least 400 Texans here in Cleburne to support Rep @BurnsForTexas. Gov @GregAbbott_TX, who's against Burns, had roughly 100 or so at his rally here in town today #txlege

8 out of 10 TX school districts will have a deficit budget in 2024 because of the lack of funding by our state government! Sitting on a surplus but holding districts hostage to Abbott’s demands. We must save our public schools!

Liz Cheney on Republicans refusing to stand up to Trump: "One of the things that is so troubling about this political season is the extent to which you’ve got, you know, people that used to be good and honorable members of Congress, for example, who have simply apparently abandoned the need to actually elect people of character and honor and instead embracing him."

@JimGBoyle @sbellsnyder @cltomlinson Gov. Abbott's "Sins of Omission" and outright lying really bother me. I respect the 21 @TXGOPCaucus members who voted in the best interest of their constituents, and am appalled that the others didn't step up to defend them when "little daddy" threatened members of their party.

Abbott will do anything to beat anti-voucher rural Republican state representatives. He rails against those rural Rs for educating immigrants with taxpayer money, yet, he signed the bill to educate immigrant children for free along with many legislators who he has endorsed. Does he tell his audiences that when he attacks Reps Drew Darby, Ernest Bailes, DeWayne Burns, Travis Clardy, Steve Allison, and Gary VanDeaver? No. Does he tell his audiences that the U.S. Constitution requires that immigrant children be educated for free (Plyler v Doe)? No. 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞.
