Well, I like late night snacks so I got up at like midnight the other night wanting a snack. I walk into the kitchen and through my tired/half awake eyes, I go "oooo peanut butter cookies" and pop one in my mouth without a second thought. They actually tasted pretty good. I only had one and went back to bed. Well, tonight, Alex is texting me from work and she goes "The dogs really like their new dogs treats" and i say "What dog treats?" Whelp....come to find out, I ate (and enjoyed) a dog treat. So.....on that note......5/5 stars from a human 😂

I remember growing up in Oregon. My mom and grandmother did a lot of canning and freezing food so we would go to the local farms where you could grab a bucket and go pick whatever you wanted yourself. Do they do that sort of thing anymore anywhere?

It always amazes me how much hostility I get when I post about how I was raised. I was born in 1965, so yes, I’m Gen X. Life has been difficult for every generation in its own way. Being Gen X doesn’t mean I think life is easy today. It means I was raised to sacrifice, delay gratification, and separate needs from wants. A lot of us grew up before overconsumption became normal, before every want was treated like a need, and before excess became a way of life. So when I talk about values, standards, and personal responsibility, that’s not me being “out of touch.” That’s me refusing to act like indulgence is normal. Call it old-fashioned. I don’t care. I’m not apologizing for the way I was raised. You do you. But stop blaming Gen X already.
