@AmazonHelp Hi please check and confirm why refund has been delayed. Earlier, it was showing as 8th but today it's showing as 11th in the app. This is the situation after numerous calls, raising to the escalation team, posting on social.

@AmazonHelp I want to return an item purchased on Amazon india. I placed the request 2 times. Every time the request is being cancelled, there's no phone or sms. Consequently, my refund is stuck for more than 10 times. Called Amazon customer care also but no resolution.

@Fintech03 A long post about nothing. In ppp dollar, the per capita GDP is around 13000. And china is 31000. Ppp dollar is a more accurate measure than your long vague post

Pankaj Sir, according to the March 2026 Big Mac Index, India has 1 of the world's most undervalued currencies. let me explain what does this mean: If we earn $350 in India, we can buy significantly more life (haircuts, domestic help, fresh produce, street food, a& daily services) than someone earning $1500 in Shanghai. In China, the Cost of Urban Survival is heavily burdened by a struggling property sector. A Chinese worker in a Tier 1 city often spends 35-45% of their salary just on a tiny apartment. I totally agree with you that nominal salaries are lower in India but the non traded services (our local barber/tailor/vegetable vendor/domestic help) remain forensically cheaper because India has not fully financialized & inflated its daily cost of living like China has. This is exactly why the good news: Everyday items are cheaper in India narrative actually reveals a deeper strength that India offers better real purchasing power for ordinary people in daily life, not just on paper.
Pankaj Pachauri@PankajPachauri

Good News: Everyday consumer items are cheaper in India than China! Bad News: Look at the average monthly salary 👇🏼👇🏼

It's not just "intellectuals" here. There's a huge market for poverty porn in West. Huge funds are released to NGOs basis poverty porn. Actually, it's an echo system of "intellectuals" in India, abroad and NGO. There reason for existence will cease to exist if poverty is reduced. THEY HAVE to keep poverty alive and kicking.

P. Sainath cannot write a book today with the same image because the lived reality of today's India is that lakhs & lakhs of women no longer walk kilometers for just 2 pots of water. Growing up, I awaited P. Sainath's periodic articles in @the_hindu that powerfully portrayed poverty in India. And then I read this book. Halfway through, I couldn't read it anymore. Not because of the sad stories. This was the first time I was reading all of his articles at one go - and the pattern was so discernible. Powerful writing but zero results. Zero follow-ups. It was good English, that's it. Cut to today, I realise that his writings have nearly stopped. He cannot write a book now with this same image, because Nal se Jal is a lived reality of India now. Farmers get input credit AND good MSP. So he (and his ilk) can't write farmer stories anymore. MUDRA, SVANidhi, Vishwakarma - and many more schemes have ensured Indians strive to achieve in their lives, what was once thought impossible. So P. Sainath cannot write a book today. Nor can he romanticize poverty like he did in his prime. The staggering reduction on absolute poverty in India, as shown by @ShamikaRavi in her thread below, is a story that needs to told in equal measure. We must take pride in how it has been achieved and ofcourse continue to get the remaining citizens also out of it. And for that, we don't need P. Sainath's anymore.

Beyond the national level numbers, it is important to appreciate the universal nature of poverty eradication across India. This is how it looks across NSS regions (clusters of districts within states) for Rangarajan Poverty Line. This is unprecedented!

The Indians who left India back l between 70s to 90s … think that India is stuck in the same place as they left it. They have kids outside of India and their kids also grow up thinking that. And it’s very evident when they talk about India. They don’t realise how stupid it comes across to people actually living in India rn.

@JustPunforfun I saw a lot of your responses. But not once did you say that you asked the maid to cook at your kitchen. In our housing society, almost every one is offering to the poor who are complaining of gas problem. Just a little bit of empathy instead writting posts on X.

My househelp's cylinder got over, and she went to get a refill. She said the cylinders are selling in black for as much as Rs 6000. It has been two days. She has still not got one. She is cooking on a chulha now. LPG shortage is real, and black marketers are having a field day. Don't believe modiots who claim there is no issue. This is a true case, not engagement farming.

@PiyushGoyal Hi Ruthika, please check details before giving wrong information. The item was purchased on 24th March. The person who came to install informed that the product was damaged. Since 25th I have been following up for return. 2-3 times the return was cancelled without any call or sms. The product was finally picked on 31st after repeated follow up. The product has been received by Amazon on 2nd. Why should it take 2 weeks for refund???? What challenging activities are you doing with the product???? Please explain. At any time Amazon must be sitting on crores of refund and earning interest. Is this a side hustle of Amazon, sell damaged product and delay refund. Piyush sir, kindly help to streamline this

Get your vision checked up by a good eye specialist.. Dont depend upon a WhatsApp eye doctor.. The news report which you have appended with your tweet is from, June' 2023..Not from the recent time. That time Russia was giving us highest discount.. Now Google to find out what Pakistan did with that load of Russian crude oil.
