A People's History of the Scottish Nobles who attached their seals to the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320

Completing hat-trick of nobles who sealed #DeclarationofArbroath 700 years ago today (generally considered good thing) before being tried for treason 700 years ago in August (generally considered not so good) #infamyinfamy. Alex Wood tells David's story in ConqueredByNoOne.scot

Our new #PeoplesHistory of the #DeclarationofArbroath draws many parallels with modern-day Scotland. None more so than @BroHistory1's chapter on Sir James Douglas. Kirsty asks "Was he the Begbie of medieval Scotland?" @robertcarlyle_ #DidYouBringTheCards?

Today, 6th of April 2020, marks the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath (1320), one of the most important documents in Scottish history. Here's a wee thread, from someone who had to study this document at university, in Lisbon, as part of my degree in History:

#ForFreedomAlone are the most famous words in the #DeclarationofArbroath. But there are other strong lines, too, including #ConqueredByNoOne, which gives us the title of our new book, due out in late April ConqueredByNoOne.scot

A key passage from the Declaration of Arbroath that is not as widely quoted as it should be. The scourge of political entryism in 2020 should take heed that the warning to leaders from 1320 still stands. #Declaration700 #GetIndyDone
