Decred has one of the most elegant ways of upgrading via on-chain, stakeholder-directed hardforks. The vast majority of the network - both PoW and PoS - must first upgrade to the new software, with the new code dormant. Only then does a month-long on-chain vote begin on whether to activate it. If stakeholders approve (75%+ of votes cast), the new consensus rules lock in and activate automatically at a set block, and the chain hardforks as one chain. If they reject it, the code simply stays dormant and never runs. $DCR #DCR

Built a Decred app on @foundationhq's KeyOS platform (Passport Prime Sim): generate a seed, derive receive addresses, airgapped signing, export a watch-only xpub, and it's signing real transactions on mainnet. My Decred Pulse desktop wallet built the tx, the Passport app signed it, and then Pulse broadcast it. The signed tx even passes back as an animated QR code that real wallets can scan. Cold storage, 100% airgapped, the way it should be. Up next: working with @cakewallet to add a Decred watch-only wallet, and to wire DCR into the QR-based hardware signing flow Cake already does for Bitcoin. The Passport side is built, it just needs Cake's Decred wallet to speak to it. Huge shoutout to foundation for having a truly open-source platform and not gatekeeping. Looking forward to giving @decredproject users a cold-storage solution on open sourced hardware + software manufactured in 🇺🇸.

I invite all the security researchers together with their AI to audit whether Decred suffers inflation bug. Oh wait, you don’t have to be a security researcher to analyze it because every UTXO traces back to a coinbase TX and that automatically guarantees total supply, surprise!

@Fiskantes Since its coinjoin type of mixing, the total supply is still auditable, making it probably the best or at least the most balanced privacy solution (unstoppable/decentralized/auditable/quantum-proof/large anonymity set)

@Fiskantes Decred, its privacy approach got a big upgrade compared to the time when you were investing (centralized server coordinated stakeshuffle now upgraded to node coordinated, so it’s completely P2P), coin mixing algo is quantum proof (better than what monero has today)

The potential ZEC exploit was quite serious but similar vulnerability was hotfixed on BTC too few years back

Ofc privacy makes it hard to verify whether there was an actual exploit, but thats the tradeoff that comes with privacy, either someone figures it out or we can say bye bye to private crypto and hold all our assets for everyone to see and track in real time
