CBS blocked Stephen Colbert’s public access show yesterday. Paramount claiming ownership of a Public Access show in Michigan is wild work.

I read a shit ton of angsty replies on my tweet about Spencer Pratt and here's what I learned. 1. The people supporting him dislike Democrats and Karen Bass more than they "like" Spencer Pratt. He's just the only "non democrat" who stepped up. And he's not a career politician. Even though he's a reality TV celebrity who's been living off that fame for 20 years, they think he's "one of them." (sound familiar?) 2. He's gaining support not because he's qualified, or has any relevant experience other than his house burned down, but because he's tapping straight into voter emotion. - The deep anger and resentment about the fire response and slow rebuild - The anger and frustration about the homelessness crisis. The drugs, the encampments, the crime. He's even focusing on homeless pets who are suffering, mistreated and abused on skid row (truly heart wrenching stuff). - He's tapping straight into the traditional MAGA playbook of "distrust" of government, hatred of Democrats and career politicians without even having to mention it. His supporters are all whipped up into a frothing frenzy about "marxists and socialists and commie Karen Bass." Both of his opposing candidates are of course, women of color. Being the mayor of the second largest city has got to be a grueling, thankless job. And in this political climate, even in blue state california, it's no wonder no one else stepped up, on either side. And that's how LA may in fact get Spencer Pratt.
