Anyone know what these are please? Google is saying Peacock butterfly caterpillars, but they’re not spikey enough? Intrigued! Cornwall today.

@VenetiaJane @StevenFalk1 The snail shell nesters are my absolute favourites, Venatia. Here's one I spotted checking out a possible shell, in a layby in Dorset. I spotted her a few years back, when I stopped for a sandwich. Made my day!

1. Lets celebrate Britain's Osmia mason bees. 4 species can occur in gardens using bee hotels. O. bicornis and the recenty arrived O. cornuta use mud to create cell partitions and nest plugs whereas O. caerulescens and O. leaiana use chewed up leaves (pesto-like 'leaf mastic').

Thank you David. Such a rubbish name for it though, I think. Mottled Skipper, or Chocolate skipper would be much nicer 🤷♀️

Thought I’d share this Brown hare amongst the dandelions on Salisbury plain recently. Very rarely see them in Cornwall, so always a treat.

Female Red-eyed damselfly at Ham Wall yesterday. The windy & chilly conditions kept most dragons and damsels tucked down in the vegetation. Probably a good thing considering the number of Hobbies on site.
