@gow_derek Exactly what I say, what do they think pheasants eat, yes anything including Insects, birds eggs etc, what a negative impact this must have in our native wildlife.

Opinion: Idiotic release of lynx in Highlands damages rewilders’ bid to turn back the clock - The Telegraph. Well the usual from the Telegraph. How does this compare to 50 million pheasants which are domesticated that starve and die annually ? Also cruel ? apple.news/AJpG0dooPS2eRy…

@gow_derek I’ve noticed this in the local area as well and wondered what the reason is. Is this in the name of conservation, if so makes no sense to me.

I watched the lord of the rings with my kid over Christmas. If the Ents lived still they would be furious. But this is a farming and conservation project with tax payers money ripping down and burning old if not ancient trees and levelling the river banks where the beavers live.

Absolutely delighted to connect with the Lizard Red-flanked Blue-tail this afternoon. A highly hoped-for bird by many of the "younger" local birders after an absence in Cornwall of over 20 years!

We usually see Choughs when down in West Cornwall, we were having lunch when two came down beside us for a dip. Right time , right place for a change.

No matter how long you’ve been birding, it’s still a thrill when a Kingfisher lands right in front of you.

Two sides of the Coot, the gentle side with the parent tenderly feeding it’s chick and the aggressive side when fighting breaks out between themselves. Cornwall.

As we change, create and plant. Some things truly find their own way. I do not believe that all will do so have no qualms about adding. But this today was no addition. In scrub created by beavers the first green hairstreak I have ever seen on my farm. rewildingcoombeshead.co.uk

Mowed a path through my little meadow today, but very few butterflies or other insects around. But my pond has lots of dragons and damsels chasing each other around. Broadwoodwidger. Devon.
