@Deeno2s Monk is at least feasible to keep beyond this year and could act as salary filler in a future trade. Also because of his bloated contract and non existent defense, I actually think he’s a feasible option for the Mike + Rob + Lenny package that I’ve been poo pooing.

Something I’m coming to terms with is that if Minnesota acquired an Ayo Dosunmu or Coby White, they’re likely going to have to add a 2028 protected pick swap to give to em enough value to say yes. I just don’t see Chicago being interested in a Mike + Rob package without some extra juice on it. Maybe TJ and Rob + a few seconds intruigues the Bulls for Ayo (not enough salary match for Coby), but with Ayo being a guy that Chicago is rumored to be interested in keeping, I again just think we’d need to add more juice in the form of a pick swap to get it over the edge. To play devils advocate, adding the pick swap has consequences for Minnesota. It impedes the Wolves ability to pull off a Giannis deal, and trading two former 1st rounders and a pick swap is a ton to give up for a bench player. So if we do pull off a Coby or Ayo trade, I do think the Wolves are going to have to pay a price. The Rob + Mike’s salary deals just aren’t very attractive to anyone outside of Minnesota.

I’ve always been out on White if I’m being honest because I don’t think we can retain him long term. I also think there’s an argument that Ayo is as impactful of a player overall. I think a Rob + TJ package gets a bit more interest than Mikes salary, and I like our ability to resign Ayo longer term. So I just like Ayo wayyy more for a ton of reasons.
