Mr P. Muelelwa, from CES MST in Limpopo, highlighted the vital role of practical skills in strengthening South Africa’s economy, recognising professions such as carpenters, butchers, bakers, pastoralists, and politicians as key contributors. He pointed out that many of these skills are offered through private or technical and vocational colleges, providing valuable opportunities for learners, and encouraged viewing vocational education as a respected and rewarding first choice. Mr Muelelwa also called on society to appreciate the dedication of vocational workers, emphasising that recognising and supporting these skills is essential for a thriving and inclusive economy.
Participants in the training workshops have been fully introduced to all safety protocols and have received their work suits and equipment. The training sessions have started successfully and will continue over the next four days, providing hands-on experience and guidance to ensure everyone is well-prepared and confident in their new skills.
