Amupitan Must Go: Nigeria Cannot Trust a Referee Accused of Wearing APC Colours
Professor Joash Amupitan cannot continue to sit comfortably as INEC Chairman while serious questions hang over his neutrality. The office he occupies is not an ordinary appointment. It is the sacred seat of Nigeria’s electoral referee, and anyone who holds it must be above suspicion, above partisan loyalty, and above every shadow of political bias.
The concern around Amupitan is simple: Nigerians cannot be asked to trust an electoral umpire widely perceived by critics as sympathetic to the APC. An election is not credible only because INEC announces results. It is credible when citizens believe the process was fair before, during, and after voting. Once the referee is suspected of leaning toward one side, the entire contest is already poisoned.
The 2027 election is too important to be supervised by a man whose neutrality is being publicly questioned. Nigeria is already battling distrust, voter anger, institutional weakness, and fear of manipulation. INEC should be restoring confidence, not deepening suspicion. Amupitan must understand that public trust is the oxygen of democracy. Without it, even a technically conducted election becomes morally dead.
This is why the honourable path is clear. If Amupitan cannot convince Nigerians that he is fully independent, then he should resign immediately. No personal ambition, political loyalty, or institutional stubbornness should be placed above the survival of Nigeria’s democracy.
Nigeria needs a neutral umpire, not a controversial one. Amupitan must go.

JUST IN: President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been caught on video openly advising Leke Abejide, a key figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to remain in the party and “fight them… scatter them.”
In the viral video, Gbajabiamila, while speaking with Abejide, urged him not to abandon the ADC despite ongoing leadership crises and court battles rocking the opposition party.
“I know you to be a committed party man. I know you to be a fighter… So please, my charge to you is to stay in that same ADC. Fight them. Scatter them! Hold on to your party, ADC. Do not abandon them. We like what you are doing. Continue,” Gbajabiamila said.
He dismissed suggestions that Abejide should leave the ADC, insisting that the party belongs to him since he built it “with your sweat and your money.”
“Don’t mind them — the former Governor said that you should come and join… No, no, no. Stay in ADC. Win your election in ADC as you will. Bring Dada Gombe… Those of us in support… Do the right thing. You are a fighter,” he added.
Gbajabiamila further encouraged Abejide to fight in court to retain control of the party.
The explosive video has sparked massive outrage online, with many accusing the Tinubu administration of actively working to destabilise the opposition ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections. Watch the video in the comment section.

@HighChiefOkoro Your life is just meaningless without having to mention Obi in a day.

Someone said Peter Obi is losing the appeal he enjoyed in 2023, many Obidents argued.
Over the weekend we saw some persons decline shaking his hand. Now over 300,000 persons have unfollowed him.
More people are beginning to know Mr. Obi for the snake that he is. The political space is shifting, and scrutiny will only get tougher.
