I’m told by a source in South Carolina that Senator Lindsey Graham has dealt with blood pressure issues since his 40s. His father also died of cardiac arrest at age 69. I know the conspiracy theories won’t stop, but sometimes life just happens. Not everything is a conspiracy.

SOUTH CAROLINA PLUNDERED BY GOOGLE AND DORCHESTER COUNTY. This Data Center “deal” with Google is one of the most brazen corporate giveaways in recent South Carolina history, a backroom sweetheart arrangement that prioritizes a trillion-dollar multinational over the very taxpayers who will be stuck holding the bag for decades. Let’s be clear about what actually happened. County leaders negotiated in near-total secrecy, using shell companies with names like Mallard LLC and Autumn Timber LLC so the public wouldn’t know who was really getting the keys to the kingdom. Once the truth came out, we learned the county handed over massive tax breaks: a FILOT deal locking Google into a tiny fixed property tax rate for up to 53 years, a full refund on personal property taxes (meaning their servers and equipment are effectively tax-free), and the sale of prime county land at roughly half its listed price. On top of that, they secured a special ultra-low electricity rate from Dominion Energy, less than half what regular residents pay. And for what? Two enormous data centers that will suck down hundreds of megawatts of power and millions of gallons of water from Lake Marion and other sources, while delivering a pathetic 200 permanent jobs. That’s it. Two hundred jobs for billions in infrastructure strain, grid pressure, and lost tax revenue. The environmental and grid impacts are no small matter either. These facilities are power hogs by design. Even with Google’s slick PR about carbon-free goals, the reality is that data centers drive massive new demand that often gets met with natural gas peaker plants or forces expensive grid upgrades that all ratepayers eventually subsidize. Water use is another quiet scandal, they may pay the posted rate and some impact fees, but the county had to expand capacity and infrastructure to serve them, and those costs don’t magically disappear. Long-term, this is classic corporate welfare dressed up as “economic development.” Taxpayers are being asked to accept decades of artificially depressed revenue from one of the wealthiest companies on Earth while absorbing the real costs of roads, water lines, emergency services, and grid reliability. The promise that “growth will pay for itself” is the same tired line we’ve heard for years, except in this case the growth was purchased with massive public concessions that ordinary homeowners and small businesses could never dream of receiving. It’s not economic development when a handful of politicians cut a secret deal that shifts the burden onto everyone else while a global tech giant walks away with the profits and the tax breaks. Dorchester County residents deserved transparency and a real cost-benefit analysis, not this glorified corporate plunder.

Kyle Larson is mad about Nascar running so many laps under caution and wants more green flag racing. Nascar ran 54 laps under caution at Michigan, 108 miles worth.

NASCAR needs to expedite the caution process along with slow the pace car down. A simple spin should be a 3 lap caution. Lap 1 to slow down and get organized Lap 2 pit road and reorganize. Lap 3 the choose is done and we going green. All while the pace car goes 30 mph to allow less laps to tick by. Having 6 or 7 laps for a simple 1 car spin is unacceptable
