Knoxville police in Tennessee, who have replaced Flock cameras with Axon, say the public must now accept mass surveillance as the new normal because Axon is "safe and effective" and for your own good. Axon has already acquired Israeli police technology company Carbyne, that was co-funded by Jeffrey Epstein and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. BlackRock and Vanguard are the largest shareholders of Axon. "The technology will be used the way it was intended to be used."

@GardenerFliss I crochet. I am trying to switch to natural fibers. It’s hard to find quality yarn. I want to learn to spin. How do we connect people like me with people like them….at a rate we can both afford.

Every sheep in the UK has to be shorn for its welfare. There is no choice. Yet the heartbreaking reality is that it often costs more to shear a sheep than the fleece is worth. So tonnes of beautiful British wool are treated as waste, burned, buried or composted, while we fill our wardrobes with synthetic fibres made from oil that shed microplastics into our rivers and seas. It feels as though somewhere along the way we’ve forgotten the value of the things nature gives us so generously. British wool is warm, breathable, biodegradable, renewable and grown every single year by animals already grazing our countryside. It deserves to be treasured, not thrown away. Perhaps the answer isn’t to produce more. Perhaps it’s to remember what we’ve always had, and start valuing natural materials, skilled craftsmanship and the people who produce them once again.

@MadMidwestMark Inflation is real. But Canada, UK, Germany, Japan all have inflation too. None of them have medical bankruptcy. The problem isn't just prices. It's the system design.

The American healthcare system is a dystopian nightmare. The fact that a single emergency room visit can completely bankrupt a middle-class family even if they have insurance is fundamentally broken. We are the only developed nation that tolerates this.

Are we really living in a “democracy” when billionaire-funded super PACs can spend tens of millions trying to defeat great progressive Senate candidates like Abdul El-Sayed (MI) and Peggy Flanagan (MN)? We need to end Citizens United and move to public funding of elections NOW!

@GavinNewsom Withholding it until the fraud is investigated and stopped. Where did all your tax money go? How’s that train coming along? Oh, and Congress is on vacation for a month. Paid. Vacation.

@KavaCap @omgsidewalks Boomers worked their arses off to get what they have. They were told it would cost $2.5M to be retired. Curious where you got this $25K/yr/house number. That number isn’t coming out of my check, I assure you.

@omgsidewalks I’m almost struggling. The reason is government requiring my services (for people who cannot afford necessary services) but not funding it. I agreed to do this job for this wage. No one twisted my arm.

Zohran Mamdani: “Democrats have been branded as socialists for longer than I can remember. I remember President Obama being called a socialist almost every single day by Republicans and it didn’t stop him from delivering not just on his first term but his second term. People are hungry for a vision of the Democratic Party that has more to do with the New Deal than the raw deal that so many Americans have been forced to accept”

She is always referencing these countries but never mentions the quality of care, the pay system for doctors and nurses, and the people with lifelong illnesses, or age, that are excluded from receiving care. Also she forgets to mention the golden care she receives as a congresswoman, which will never be an option for the “public market.” Also- fix Obamacare, lower the premiums people are paying, and force hosptials to advertise their costs. We can start here and work forward through a system that works extremely well, but is plagued by greed and corruption.

Reporter: Isn’t there concern that this slippery slope to socialism inevitably ends up as full-blown communism? AOC: I mean, no. I think that’s very silly. We can’t even raise the minimum wage. Do they really think communism is going to happen? No. They’re trying to scare people because they don’t want us talking about the fact that we all have a right to health care. So they want to call everything they don’t like communist because if people actually wake up to the fact that their elected officials are screwing them over when they get here, they’re going to realize they deserve better and that health care as a right isn’t crazy. They want to call this stuff communist because they don’t want us to realize that the rest of the developed world has guaranteed health care. They want to call it communist because they don’t want you to know that Germany, Italy, the UK, Canada—everybody else—has it better than us, and we spend the most money for the worst care in the developed world.

@Acyn She was picked from a casting call. We know she is not versed in history, where this absolutely happened every time. Canada’s health care recommends euthanasia (assisted suicide/medical murder) if you are likely to be expensive.

@BernieSanders Walmart is the same. Sam’s kids are very wealthy. Walmart pays a very good hourly wage, but limits hours so people end up on assistance. Also, using any statistics from the Biden fiasco is misleading in itself. Cry harder Bernie.

The number of Amazon workers relying on food stamps and Medicaid nearly TRIPLED between 2020 and 2025. Jeff Bezos is worth $257 billion and has a $500 million yacht. He can afford to pay his workers a living wage.

@badwulf1865 We have them in this area once and again. They come and go. This was a project I ran for kids on probation. We donated literal tons of produce. I had a little spot that was “mine” off to the side for a while. It’s a great idea, I wish communities would invest in them more!

HISTORY LESSON ON YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD: Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are FACTS. Up until the 1980's, Social Security cards expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message was removed. Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. His promises are in black, with updates in brackets. 1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary [No longer voluntary], 2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program [Now 7.65% on the first $90,000, and 15% on the first $90,000 if you’re self-employed], 3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year [No longer tax deductible], 4.) That the money the participants put into the independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program [Under Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and spent], and 5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income [Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed]. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month — and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put away’ — you may be interested in the following: Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it? A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate. Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? A: The Democratic Party. Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US AND MY FAVORITE: Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants? A: That’s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Now, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, though. Some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn’t so — but it’s worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?

Zohran Mamdani: “A lot of what we’ve come to accept as the facts of life across our country is driven by democratic socialist principles. If today you and I were to introduce the idea of a building that lends out books for free, we would be slandered in the same way that so many new ideas are slandered today and yet that’s the library. And the same thing with the fire department and the same thing with public schools”
