I think the expectations thing is tough for MVP. I like it for COY and MIP.
But the Thunder were expected to be awesome, Shai was expected to be awesome, and he has been.
I think a better argument is "None of us thought the Spurs would be this good, and in my opinion the REASON they are so much better is Wembanyama's play."
I think that's harder to prove given how good Castle and the wings have been, but it's a more solid argument.

@AnthonyIrwinLA Imo the reason its so bad this year is pick protections, was pick gets much worse of its not top 8, utah loses its pick if its not top 8,indy only keeps their pick if its top 4,i think changing the rules around pick protections to something like top 14 or nothing would help a lot

Though I do disagree that tanking isn't a problem. Yes, some fan bases online have embraced tanking in very loud ways (my first pod was literally Team Tank lol), but I don't think it's healthy that a substantial percentage of the league isn't trying to win on any given night.

The problem with any anti-tanking proposals is that owners aren't going to sign off on anything that would actually have a chance at correcting the issue -- especially as their fan bases have really embraced tanking. All Silver is doing is bringing wider attention to the issue.

Judging by most reviews, the game's open world and stuff to do is immense, but the narrative is just kinda lacking.
