It's a beautiful day in Virginia, even more so because this afternoon we sent the assault weapons ban to the governor's desk. This legislation marks a huge step in making our Commonwealth a safer place for all.

When I was first elected, I passed a bill to ensure victims of sexual assault on college campuses could report without fear of disciplinary action for minor infractions. VMI got an exemption from the bill, and I've fought to remove it since. Yesterday, we finally won the battle.

HB21, which lets Virginians sue firearms manufacturers and dealers for irresponsible behavior, just passed. We’ve lost too many Virginians to firearms, and after years of keeping up this fight, proud to send our bill to the governor’s desk.

The Confederacy was a four year period in which traitors hellbent on preserving slavery tried - and then failed - to divide the Union. The Confederacy and its leaders do not deserve our commemoration, and its adherents certainly do not deserve taxpayer dollars.

HB21 is simple. It says it shouldn't be easier to sue a toy gun manufacturer for irresponsible conduct than it is to sue an actual gun manufacturer for irresponsible conduct. Excited to see the bill moving to the Senate floor.

Glad to move our bill HB113 to ban Elon Musk-style lotteries forward in the Senate. Billionaires shouldn't be able to buy our elections.

January 6th is a day that will live in infamy. This bill is critical to ensuring that public school students who learn about it have an opportunity to learn the truth.

Proud to have worked with a bipartisan group of public servants to pass HB1377 to continue building leaders of character at VMI while eliminating remnants of the Lost Cause and safeguarding cadets against sexual assault and racism.

It's been too long, but glad to see an Assault Weapons Ban pass the House and head to the Senate -- and to have a former Moms Demand volunteer, @SpanbergerforVA, as governor.
