Despite West Virginia’s burden of maintaining nearly 71,000 miles of roads and continued backlog of bridge maintenance, the state moved up slightly in a nationwide rankings of road systems. newsandsentinel.com/news/local-new…

@MichaelGiberso3 I think that's important context for folks seeing these eye popping numbers on the tool. @DelegateDaniel would you could be open to adjusting the slider to start out on a more realistic sized data center when folks hit the landing page?

@OperaStrange You posted a quote I stand by. And this discussion is entirely reliant upon datacenters. You've made datacenters probably $10 since we began today.

I want every West Virginian to understand what's at stake with data center development — so I built a tool to show you. Plug in any county. Slide the project size. Watch what happens to school funding, emergency services, and your personal income taxes. This is what economic development looks like. This is why I'm fighting for it. Try it for yourself 👇 🔗 linvilleforwv.com/datacentertool

@OperaStrange Lie? People move to ad-hominem when they've lost the discussion. And you know you did. Give it some thought before believing anyone who you might disagree with is bad. And you never have told me where there's a factual disagreement. Have a great day.

@DelegateDaniel it’s very convenient that Berkeley Cty residents would have to bear the economic/environmental brunt of the data center, but your county would reap the benefits without have to assume any mitigation costs. no wonder you’re willing to lie to bring these harmful projects to WV.

@DelegateDaniel you are fighting for out-of-state vultures who want to strip WV of every resource it has. how much are they paying you?

@DelegateDaniel So does this require data centers and by law to operate their own grids or is it just an option?

@DelegateDaniel HB2014 may use microgrids, but they don't have to. That is an important point. If they choose not to then we will eat the costs. And we will still have to pay for any upgrades to transmission lines that will have to be upgraded to support these centers.

Big announcement yesterday from @nscale: The Monarch Compute Campus is coming to Mason County, WV! We’re thrilled to welcome this massive AI factory that will bring enormous investments and opportunity to West Virginia. Thank you to @Microsoft for signing the letter of intent for the first 1.35 GW at this site. Full campus has potential for 8+ GW! This is real economic growth for our state — powered by innovation.

@DelegateDaniel West virginians will see an increase in utility rates, so don't lie.

So I think, frankly, this is an argument for other areas (and while Tucker County has had a lot of interest, I think you see it's far from the top option - if power can't be delivered.) I (for what it's worth) doubt that Tucker without any natural gas generation is economical given other options.

@DelegateDaniel Understand that the PRIMARY source of power WILL NOT be available until at least 2030 because of all the DCs across the country... not just WV. The paperwork for Ridgeline will allow it to run on backups for 3 years.

@DelegateDaniel As an ex-IT worker, the page information is interesting. BUT it is all based on best case scenarios. How many DCs are planned? 10? Why not have a dropdown list of sites? I had to look up the power usage for Tucker's DC.

Diesel would cost more, for sure. But in your screenshot they say diesel is backup. Not primary. They all have backup - used if natural gas, coal, transmission, or any other source is interrupted. But there's almost no world where diesel makes sense (as primary) under the same timeline for construction of the facilities. It's just not economic if others are available. And others are available.
