The smuggled cigarettes were violative of provisions under Customs Act, 1962 and Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act (COPTA), 2003. Therefore, Foreign Origin Cigarettes have been seized. The case is under investigation.

One person (godown manager) has been arrested. Brands of foreign origin cigarettes are Top Gun, Richmond, Platinum, Paris, Manchester, Senator and Indian origin Topaz and Colonel Gold brand Cigarettes etc.

BIS is not required for these body massagers. Several shipments have been cleared at MAA Chennai Air Cargo, and several importers have done similar shipments at Delhi and other ports. The alert on Jubilant Innovations was placed after the Twitter exposé in October. A recent judgment from the Delhi HC also confirms the same: EPR can be submitted post-release of the goods. Jubilant Innovations possesses an EPR certificate as well, but preventive officers have threatened our customs broker and are unwilling to accept our valid proof and details for smooth clearance of goods. We were approached for backdoor negotiations through the officer's agent, but we refused to pay even a single rupee in bribe for this shipment. We will proceed only through proper ways.

3/3 The destruction process was carried out on *24th January 2025* in safe and non-hazardous manner at a waste management facility at Delhi in presence of the High level Drug Disposal Committee.

2/3 The value of destroyed drugs is estimated around Rs.181 Crores. These goods were seized by the Customs department for violation of Customs Act and NDPS Act.
