Have you ever experienced this on your farm? And felt confused about what it could be or what to do? Well, this is photosensitisation. Let's dive into a simple discussion about it. First, You may ask yourself what does Photosensitisation mean? Answer; Photosensitisation is a condition in which the skin becomes sensitive to sunlight especially the Ultraviolet light, which leads to damage to the skin. If you notice carefully, it's the non pigmented Parts that are affected ( I mean the white parts). Clinical signs that can make you suspect photosensitisation. ✓ Hair loss from white parts of the skin. ✓ Wounds on the white parts of the skin. ✓ Reddening of skin, hair loss and wounds on white parts. Photosensitisation can occur in two ways. 1. Primary photosensitisation, results from eating pastures or weeds that have photosensitising agents. 2. Secondary photosensitisation, happens when the liver is damaged and fails to remove certain chemicals from the body. The liver of animal can get damaged if you overdose the animal with drugs or give the animal a lot of different drugs. Always consult your vet before you do any treatment to your animal. What to do Incase your animal gets photosensitisation. 1. First step is to remove it from sunlight, the more it stays in sunlight the more the effects. 2. Control files can contaminate the wounds causing more danger. 3. Provide liver tonics, drugs that support liver function, ask your vet. END

This morning: Ngabo has undergone a procedure called #Rumenotomy via the left Paralambar Fossa. She developed a severe frothy bloat, 3 days back which failed to respond to conventional treatment. Hopefully she will recover well.
