Six years ago, two classmates scribbled their thoughts about the weekend’s Formula 1 race on a piece of paper, just for fun. Today, that small idea has turned into an account with 10.000 followers. Thanks for joining the ride! 🏎️📊

📊 Clean Air Pace Analysis – Methodology (2026) 🔍 1.017 laps reviewed individually for this analysis ⛽ Fuel discount: 0.037s/lap 🇺🇸 📈 Sample Size (Laps Used per Team) Mercedes — 70 laps Mclaren — 83 laps Haas — 82 laps Williams — 71 laps Aston Martin — 30 laps Cadillac — 56 laps 📝 Notes - The new regulations make it considerably more difficult to select a sample of certain laps, consequently, laps with some dirty air are also included, provided the lap time corresponds to the driver’s pace in clean air - There is no data available for Red Bull, Alpine and Racing Bulls due to accidents in the early laps. There is also no data for Audi due to Hülkenberg's early retirement. - Hamilton's car was damaged in a collision on the first lap 🎙 What is clean air pace in Formula 1? 🏎💨 When analysing clean air pace, we aim to evaluate a driver’s true performance level when not affected by aerodynamic turbulence from another car. The car ahead generates dirty air, a turbulent wake that reduces the downforce available to the following car. This loss of aerodynamic efficiency makes cornering more difficult and can increase tyre wear. For that reason, analysing laps completed in clean air conditions provides the clearest way to observe a driver’s pure pace and consistency during a race stint. 🔬 Methodology for the 2026 Season Based on the experience gathered from previous seasons, the methodology has been refined for 2026. For this season, the analysis relies exclusively on representative laps in clean air, with a fuel correction applied, and each lap manually reviewed. Every lap from each driver is analysed individually in order to remove non-representative laps, even if they technically occur in clean air conditions. This additional filtering has been introduced because tyre and pace management are expected to play an even larger role during the 2026 season, meaning that many laps may not reflect the driver’s true performance level. Our main objective is to compare laps that are: Completed in clean air Run on the same tyre compound Set during similar track phases However, based on the limitations observed in previous seasons, it has become clear that perfectly identical conditions are often impossible to obtain. For that reason, if a comparison is considered representative of what was observed during the race, laps may still be compared even if they were completed on different tyre compounds. ⚖️ Weight of Each Grand Prix in the Final Comparison For the 2026 season, each race will not contribute equally to the final teammate pace comparison. Instead, the weight of each Grand Prix will depend on the size and quality of the available sample. This means that: Races with larger and more reliable lap samples will have a greater impact on the season-long comparison. Races with very limited data may still be shown for transparency, but they will have minimal influence on the final results. Therefore, if you notice that a race includes only a small number of laps, it does not necessarily mean the data will significantly affect the overall season analysis. 💬 Constructive feedback is always welcome. The methodology will continue to evolve throughout the season as we keep refining the analysis Infinite thanks to @rekii_dzn for making this possible🧑‍🎨

What is the difference between this incident and Hamilton’s in Singapore in 2025 that resulted in different penalties in each case? 🧐
