@Timodc @sarahmccammon As a journalist, perhaps it’s worth watching the statement before you take a bad-faith interpretation of an out-of-context snippet of a call at face value? The risk was not calling out an obviously anti-Semitic attack. The risk was placing in its full context.

The right-wing press does not want to discuss the basic facts: the Trump administration is deliberately terrorizing the already-poor people of Cuba by denying them electricity. They want to make it a story about Hasan Piker or communism. We must stay focused on barbaric US policy

Regardless what happens he will always loyally support Israel for religious and tribal reasons that supersede any other consideration and utilize the influence he has accrued in America for that purpose.

"I don't know if Israel will be the Israel of my youth ever again — meaning, you know, a liberal-minded democracy." @JeffreyGoldberg discusses Israel’s shift toward fatalism and illiberalism and how it's deepening a painful rift with American Jews.

The Idea that Iran, a country that hasn't bombed a single ambulance or hospital in any country it has targeted during this war, despite their hospitals and schools (120+) being routinely hit, are somehow behind the arson of 4 Jewish ambulances in London, is frankly preposterous.

If you’re a wonk denying the Gaza genocide, I expect a full paper articulating what you think the International Association of Genocide Scholars got wrong and why we should trust you over the most prestigious expert group on earth.
Lindsay Ballant@lindsayballant

Will Stancil—fresh off a week calling anyone publicizing Israeli lobby superpac donations antisemitic—says that your (and the international community’s) use of the word Genocide is a little *too* harsh, needs to see way more dead Palestinians before he’ll revisit this matter

The $200bn request by DoD has a pretty clear signal that the US is planning to send in ground forces. That will be just of the first of the checks American taxpayers will be writing. People really need to understand that the commitment of ground forces cannot be short-term, not just due to the abstract logic of mission creep, but because the overriding objective that it driving the commitment is Iranian control of Hormuz. And that cannot be secured and mission accomplished declared in months; it will take years at the minimum. The idea that you can just seize coastal beachheads and thereby protect traffic through Hormuz is logically-challenged. Iranian missiles and drones have ranges around a thousand kilometers — that is how deep you must occupy Iran to protect Hormuz. In fact, a ground war will inevitably turn into a full-scale occupation bc the overriding instrumental and operational objective has to be disarming Iran, making sure it cannot hold US forces and gulf traffic at serious risk. The only way to secure that objective is regime change and full-scale occupation. But a full-scale occupation cannot work because of the unforgiving division math: even if all the Western powers send all their divisions, there still won’t be enough to effectively occupy half of the territory of Iran. So this is guaranteed to be a catastrophic quagmire. And a really big one at that. Bigger than Vietnam and Iraq and Afghanistan combined. Cut your losses, man.
