For over two centuries, the U.S. Navy’s reputation has been built on preserving freedom of the high seas. This morning on @CNN, I shared my concerns with @KateBolduan regarding the administration's proposed 20% toll on commercial shipping through the Strait—a move that challenges international law and long-standing U.S. policy.

Hearing from multiple people who support the Trump admin’s war against Iran but said that this demand was a misstep: “will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped, for any and all costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the World.”

Trump says he's reinstating the blockade on Iran in Strait of Hormuz, adding the US will be the waterway's "guardian" and charge commercial shippers. Follow live updates. cnn.it/4pfOVuS

COLLINS: Do you want to get reimbursed? TRUMP: Yeah. Because we're protecting a very rich portion of the world. We are going to be reimbursed for protection COLLINS: By who? TRUMP: By the countries we're protecting. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain ...

President Trump: "We're going to take out Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians we're coming."

NEWS: President Trump is planning to announce that Georgia's two senators, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, are illegitimate because of fraud, a well-placed source in Georgia tells us. Announcement could come as soon as tonight.

Trump: "We're controlling the straits. We're putting the blockade back."

At 4:45 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command began launching the third consecutive night of strikes against Iran, at the Commander in Chief's direction. These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

if the united states follows through on a naval blockade on iran, almost certain that iran will shut down the strait for non-iranian transit. red sea/houthis will be a question as well.

At 5 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching more strikes against Iran to continue degrading their ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The Commander in Chief has directed the strikes to hold Iranian forces accountable.

At 7:15 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching the third round of strikes this week against Iran after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces blatantly attacked M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cyprus-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. A civilian crew member is missing and the vessel is unable to continue the journey due to an onboard fire and significant engineroom damage. Iran was provided yet another opportunity to demonstrate adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding after being held accountable for earlier attacks on commercial vessels but has again failed. In response, the United States is imposing a heavy cost by continuing to degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the strait. The strikes are being carried out at the direction of the Commander in Chief.
