@InfoAtJames @sloping_ape_53 @amyoder Yes... I think a lot of the single family splinters and children fluctuate btw the different groups at least. But a few of them will have basically no one to marry if they keep splintering (which I suppose resolves the issue in a way). Anyway, they need to figure that out.

Fun Fact about Mennonites (especially the ones in Latin America) The Mennonites in Bolivia arrived in the mid 20th century and by 2080 they will outnumber the native Bolivian population. They’re German, Swiss, Dutch and used to be just a religious group but because they marry only Mennonites, they’ve become their own unique ethnicity and they BREED LIKE RABBITS. The Latin American Mennonites have 7-10 kids per family. For them birthing children is a sense of vocational duty. They have more kids so there will be more farm workers. They’ve been persecuted religiously in many different countries, and part of the reason they have so many children is because they have the mindset of earning their stay and freedom from religious persecution by being an objective net positive. When you see Mennonites emigrate somewhere, it is almost always because they were *recruited* there. They never move unless it’s to escape religious persecution or find another Mennonite group with more genetic diversity to continue growing their population. They are not a nomadic people otherwise. In the next 200-300 years, Central and South America will likely be majority white if this trend continues.

Latin America is the new frontier for Old Colony Mennonites. They are spread across 200 colonies with 200,000 people in a combined area almost equal to that of the Netherlands and twice that of Israel. Link to article below.

@JaegerNick76936 @DanielDiMartino Fairly rare as a % of the Total Mennonites population in Latin America (under 5%, + converts have higher defection rates & lower birth rates in general). But liberal & medium conservative Swiss Mennonites are far more open to converts generally than Dutch Mennonites.

@InfoAtJames @sloping_ape_53 @amyoder Like 750 members (likely 1,500-2,000+ if you include children/unbaptized youth). But that small population is further split into like 8 non-intermarrying groups + 7 smaller groups with only 1-3 families! And they already split from the Groffdale before that...

@DemographicR @sloping_ape_53 @amyoder Of course you are right. Speaking of degrees I done Psychology and there is a psychosocial phenomenon known as Black Sheep Effect" that's explains a lot of that aversion the west has potentially for Amish, Mennonites etc but not unfamiliar groups like Polynesians

@InfoAtJames @sloping_ape_53 @amyoder The only Anabaptist group I'm "worried" about regarding genetic diversity is the 'Reidenbach Old Order Mennonites'... they. Just. Keep. Splintering!!! And they had lower genetic diversity to start with than most groups...

@DemographicR @sloping_ape_53 @amyoder Class man. Makes sense now. Its good though because you can articulately answer all those rumours you where telling me float about Mennonite communities you where telling me about the other day.

@InfoAtJames @sloping_ape_53 @amyoder I do agree that they should work to increase their genetic diversity though lol. E.g, trying to affiliate with like-minded but genetically unrelated Anabaptists (like Noah Hoover), adoptions, converts etc (even the Haredi use matchmaking methods to limit genetic disease etc).

@sloping_ape_53 @InfoAtJames @amyoder Albeit, Dutch Mennonites don't have "high genetic diversity" (almost no one outside of Sub-Africa does) - but they are likely similar to East Asians for Runs of Homozygosity (ROH) Even the Amish & Hutterites are similar to SA Indigenous, Polynesians & Pakistanis for ROH.

@sloping_ape_53 @InfoAtJames @amyoder 'Dutch' Mennonites had a few minor population reductions from religious persecution/murder/famine migration etc. but they had the advantages of: -Degree of base ethnic variation (Dutch, Flemish, Swiss, Swabian, Prussian, Slav). -Larger populations. -Fission-Fusion colony models

@sloping_ape_53 @InfoAtJames @amyoder Another interesting comparison: surnames Hutterites: 15 Amish: ~120-150+ Dutch Mennos: ~600+ +Detailed yDNA analysis (Mennonite DNA Project) confirms many surnames aren't "monoclonal (e.g Bartel, Braun, Dyck) have unconnected lineages (distinct paternal ancestors but same name)

@InfoAtJames @amyoder Yeah I could see that, but also that population has dysgenic qualities that include inbreeding. They as a population and culture do not bring the best genetics.

@_______9372 @BowTiedPassport Think your'e confusing "Mennonites" with "Mormons". That was the "LeBarón & Langford families massacre" of American-Mexican "independent Mormons" (3 women + 6 children).

@BowTiedPassport Did you know their compound down there has 50 cal nests. Years ago a bunch of their women and children got murdered by the cartel down there. They also have one of the largest private weapons collections in the world.

Kinda wild. No one is talking about this, but the Mennonites have cleared out nearly 6,500 acres of rainforest outside of Bacalar, Mexico.

@johncenasf72641 @AAmerica111 @DanielDiMartino In America. We have yet to see what they can do for extended periods of time outside of here. Their TFR will probably drop by the 2nd or 3rd generation swiftly. Nobody wants hard living in the 2020’s except for the older generation.
