Its key assessment on Putin's hopes for the 2016 election was built on at best, abysmal, and analytic tradecraft, and at worst, willful politically charged intentions.”

Thanks to our intelligence agencies and President Trump’s leadership, the world isn’t as dangerous for Americans as it was a year ago. These agencies have improved over the last year thanks to reforms that have gotten them back to basics of spying on our adversaries.

Donald Trump was overwhelmingly elected by the American people to be our President and Commander in Chief. As our Commander in Chief, he is responsible for determining what is and is not an imminent threat, and whether or not to take action he deems necessary to protect the safety and security of our troops, the American people and our country.  The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is responsible for helping coordinate and integrate all intelligence to provide the President and Commander in Chief with the best information available to inform his decisions.  After carefully reviewing all the information before him, President Trump concluded that the terrorist Islamist regime in Iran posed an imminent threat and he took action based on that conclusion.

Recently, I visited two of the 18 intelligence agencies @ODNIgov oversees. At @DIA, I welcomed Lt. Gen. James Adams as the 25th Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and at @DEAHQ I thanked Principal Deputy Administrator Dan Salter and the intelligence team for driving law enforcement operations against transnational criminal networks. These teams, and others across the Intelligence Community, are working in constant coordination to keep the American people safe.

Yesterday, @DNIGabbard stood in uniform to honor six service members who made the ultimate sacrifice: Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. Declan Coady, Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan. God bless them, their families who grieve their loss, and the United States of America.

Tonight, @POTUS delivered a powerful and inspiring speech about the many results delivered in a historic first year and the powerful vision he has for our future as we celebrate our 250th year of freedom. In just one year, we stopped thousands of terrorist cartels and gangs from accessing the homeland, ushered in an era of transparency and accountability, prioritized the health and wellness of our people, and began to restore a government that is of, for and by the people as our Founders intended. President Trump tonight not only highlighted our successes as a nation but he also honored and celebrated every day Americans who have been a part of what makes our nation special, like CW5 Eric Slover and Captain Royce Williams (Ret.) who he presented with the Medal of Honor, Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe and Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom who he honored with the Purple Heart, World War Two hero Buddy Taggart who will celebrate his 100th birthday on July 4th, and of course the U.S. Men’s Hockey team straight off their Olympic gold medal win. The Golden Age of America is upon us, and we will work every day to ensure “the flame of liberty and independence still burns in the heart of every American patriot.” Our mission continues.

MISSION UPDATE: The Intelligence Community is refocusing on its mission under @POTUS, and the State of our Union is stronger for it. This year, @ODNIgov surged counterterrorism operations, exposed deep state corruption, strengthened intelligence partnerships, and began directing intelligence resources towards American economic dominance. There is more to be done, and we look forward to continuing our mission alongside President Trump to rebuild an Intelligence Community that bolsters national and economic security and answers to the Constitution and the American people.

President Trump pledged to eradicate waste, fraud, and abuse throughout the government. At @ODNIgov, that commitment led to historic change: streamlining our workforce by 40%, shutting down unnecessary facilities and contracts, and saving taxpayers more than $700 million.

On Day One of his presidency, @POTUS promised to deliver accountability through transparency by declassifying long-withheld government secrets and evidence of wrongdoing to restore trust in our federal agencies.
