Big time credit to Deandre Ayton. Basically ever since the "Clint Capela" incident he's been playing his ass off and embracing his role. And because he's excelling at it, he's arguably the second best Lakers player in this series behind LeBron.

@CodifyBaseball It’s a sign of respect As they did for Kershaws entire career, they know if they score you more than 2 runs, it’s saying you can’t keep the other team in check. If you’re the best, 2 runs is plenty.

In his last 8 regular season starts, Shohei Ohtani has allowed a total of 2 earned runs in 44⅔ innings pitched. The Los Angeles Dodgers lost 6 of those games.

@BenjaminSolak My opinion, which I think you have said too, is that it’s odd they didn’t got for more of a Stafford type. I thought they learned going from Goff to Stafford what the physical skills bring to the offense

The bear case for Simpson at 13 to the Rams is pretty obvious. I'll give you a little bit of the bull case. Plays with great timing and a good enough arm. Lots of NFL throws on the film that will immediately translate to McVay's offense.

@ESPNNBA This whole sitting Luka and Reeves out in the first round was a plot to devalue LeBron James. They hoped he didn’t do good in the first round just to make a case for him to retire. Am I the only one with viewing with a cynical lens that can see this so clearly??

Nick Wright says LeBron is still a top 10 player in the postseason: "He'll always be good. He'll never not be good... Prime Chris Paul. That's what 41 year old year 23 LeBron looks like. A version of a player that was called 'the point god.' He proved last night for a lot of people he still without any age agenda added to it, a top 10 guy you would want for the postseason. For the postseason, there are not 10 guys in the league that I would rather have running the show than LeBron"

@TitoToro_ @UnderdogNBA @ShamsCharania Okay I agree, but let’s not act like it’s just some random 41 year old. LeBron is 41 and still better than 80% of the NBA, and if he really wanted to be he could be in the top 1% for this playoff run. He’s still got it.

Updates on Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, per @ShamsCharania: - Lakers not expecting Doncic to return in Round 1 - Reaves further along than Doncic in rehab process - Reaves has started 1-on-1 on-court work; needs to go through 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 - Reaves tracking to return late in Round 1 or early in Round 2 if Lakers advance

Tremendous T-Wolves win. They really grabbed that game, right level of desperation. 2 concerns for Denver have to be: Gordon looks banged up already, and Joker’s 3s looked really bad. They’re gonna give him those if he keeps shooting like that.

I think you’re dead wrong. Because in no way can Dodgers count on a 32-year-old closer who had reduced velocity and a 10-plus ERA this season, along with pain in his surgically repaired knee, coming back at full strength in second half after April elbow surgery of any kind.

UFC’s White House card and MVP MMA’s Netflix card have fans going back and forth nonstop…MVP getting labeled “too old and irrelevant,” while the UFC card feels a bit oversold after Dana told fans it would be the “greatest ever.” 📊 So let’s look at the numbers. MVP’s top 3 fights, just 6 fighters, have a larger combined following than the entire 12* fighter UFC card across Instagram, X, and YouTube. Social media numbers aren’t everything, but they do reflect fan interest and investment, to the point that the UFC has often used them in negotiations, especially with fighters who have smaller followings. It’s very clear that in this era the casual fans don’t always care about skill ceilings or current skill level, they care about names and storylines. Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson pulled 108 million live viewers on Netflix. 🎥 🏆 At the same time, there’s no question that the UFC still has the deepest roster and consistently has the ability to deliver the best matchups in the sport. 🧠 The “too old” narrative doesn’t completely hold up. The age gap is just 5.8 years across full cards, 4.5 years across top 3 fights. Most key names on both cards are in that same 30s to 40 range. 👀 The UFC has shown interest in bringing back names like Nate Diaz and was in talks for Rousey vs Carano. And if Ngannou returned, he’d likely be in an immediate title shot. Ciryl Gane, who he beat with a torn ACL, is fighting for an interim belt at the White House. 📉 Odds are closer than people think too. MVP’s numbers are skewed by one outlier, otherwise the gap is tighter than you’d expect. 📺 Platform matters. Netflix has about 325 million subscribers vs about 79 million for Paramount Plus. That raises the ceiling. There’s a very good chance the MVP card on Netflix becomes the most watched card in MMA history. At the end of the day, this isn’t about one replacing the other. The UFC is obviously operating on a different level. But it’s about optionality. More opportunities for fighters is a win. 🍿 Me personally, both cards are must watch. 📊 Full breakdown in the graphics above. (**Of note: this graphic was made a few weeks ago. One fight has since been added to the UFC card, and multiple added to MVP’s card.**)
