@Sean_Rogers Dont we also have the highest wage bill in the PL? Even though we've a comparatively smaller squad than most of our rivals? Incredible.

As referenced on Review…. Liverpools defensive record this season makes for grim reading In amongst talk of wingers and midfielders the personnel, approach, team shape & structure required to deliver a strong defensive record should be a priority Liverpool have currently conceded 70 goals *excl Charity Shield all comps Liverpool are 5 goals away in all comps from conceding the same number of goals in a season as Souness’s 92/93 season 25/26 played 1 less game currently In the league its a higher goals conceded per game ratio for Slot 92/93 = 1.30 goals conceded per league game 25/26 = 1.34 goals conceded per league game Rodgers worst defensive season was 1.32 goals conceded per league game To be in the same conversation as Graeme Souness’s 1992/93 side that included 50 appearances by a combination of David Burrows, Torben Piechnik & Nicky Tanner is quite incredible - all hard working players but limited it’s fair to say They conceded 16 from set pieces in all comps 92/93 This has been surpassed by the 25/26 squad in the premier league alone Different era, different game but to be delivering those defensive numbers this season is quite incredible Liverpools underlying defensive numbers vs league average paint a slightly better picture courtesy @Statsbomb ⬇️

No more oil from the Middle East, skyrocketing gas prices, highest gas tax in the nation, jet fuel shortage, national security threat from CA’s policies, and marine life destruction from the largest natural seepage in the world. This is equivalent to the guy drowning trying to drown the guy saving him. The epitome of incompetent leadership right here.
Rob Bonta@AGRobBonta

We’re filing a motion for a preliminary injunction in an effort to block the Trump Administration from unlawfully greenlighting the restart of two CA onshore oil pipelines that are subject to State regulation and oversight. Unfortunately, California has seen first-hand the devastating environmental and public health impacts of coastal oil spills, yet the Trump Administration will stop at nothing to evade state regulation, which protects against these very disasters.

If Arne Slot wants to complain about the Benjamin Sesko goal & wanted it overturned, go ahead. I'd have been ok with that, want to know why? Because then Curtis Jones would have been sent off under DOGSO for pulling back Sesko & preventing him from scoring with the original chance. VAR would have to review the entire attacking phase in the build up, which is standard protocol when disallowing a goal. It would have come under scrutiny as a missed foul in the build-up. Sesko's goal (which never had enough clear evidence to overturn anyway) was a better outcome for Liverpool than a DOGSO red card & penalty, for which Bruno Fernandes has a 85% success rate of scoring. Likely 2-0 down with 10 men sounds a lot worse than 2-0 down with 11. The bigger missed decision was Jones, not Sesko. Know when you've been outplayed, don't make excuses & try to claim being hard done by.

An impressive fight back in the 2nd half from Manchester United after gifting Liverpool 2 goals, but the response showed real character. Kobbie Mainoo's impact was sensational again, United now return to the Champions League, which is a significant achievement. 📲- youtube.com/live/xwr2uj_AW…

@johngibbonsblog Possible? Anything is "possible". Its possible Ipswich could win the PL next season. The fact is Liverpool have been in a downward spiral since around the time of the League Cup final last season. There's very little sign he can turn things around.

Arne Slot believes Liverpool have suffered from a succession of contentious video assistant referee decisions this season — but admits they only had themselves to blame for Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester United. The Dutch head coach was unhappy that Benjamin Sesko’s goal was allowed to stand at Old Trafford when replays appeared to show the ball hit the striker’s fingers before going over the line. “I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone this season that if there’s a VAR intervention or if there’s something that could be left or right (50-50) then the decision goes against us," Slot told reporters post-match. "That has been the whole season, every single time the same." More from @JamesPearceLFC 🔗 nyti.ms/48FKwdP

@ATLiverpool_ @Hans_LFC The squad is unbalanced and the injuries have been unlucky. But what is within Slots control is team selection, shape, tempo, tactics, subsitutions, and game management. All of these have fallen well short. Plus none of our new signings have played anywhere near their potential.

We're one of the best pressing teams in the league despite what certain people may make you think 😂😂 A manager prioritising the shoehorning of a 34yo aging winger who's lost 2 steps of pace over trying to integrate the £300m worth of new attackers would not be manager for long

Just to play on this hypothetical, I'd like to know answers to the following. Does a new manager at any point of the season: • Make Isak match fit the entire season after he sat out the whole summer? • Stop Leoni blowing his knee out in his first game? • Suddenly give Salah two yards more pace and not see his offensive contributions drop by near 50%? • Stop the freak goals that have been conceded off of deflections, 30 yard screamers, etc? • Stop an Iron Man in Frimpong having multiple hamstring injuries? • Stop Bradley blowing his knee out trying to clear the ball? • Stop Isak breaking his leg scoring a goal? • Stops Ekitike blowing his Achillies? • Stops the need for a transition period for those coming from another team/league? These are just a few of the instances that Slot has had to deal with this season, and, to be honest, not Klopp nor Alonso being in charge changes 90% of this. Would there be some variation? Absolutely. Is Slot infallible? Not even close. Should questions be asked? Absolutely. But let's not look at this season through a prism of bias and use all of the context available, otherwise, you're being agenda driven 🤷‍♂️ #LFC

✍🏻 Liverpool’s starting XI cost £430.2m; the 10 outfield players had all won league titles in their career. ⚽️ But they conceded the first goal for the 21st time and lost their 18th game of the season. ✍🏻 They are soft touches. It can’t continue telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

🚨Ole Gunnar Solskjær on Mohamed Salah being a Premier League legend "While he is considered a legend by many Liverpool fans, I personally believe he hasn’t yet done quite enough to fully earn that elite status. When you look at the very best wingers to have played the game — players like Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo — Salah, for all his brilliance, still doesn’t quite measure up in my eyes."

🚨🎙️ Ian Wright, Roy Keane & Jamie Carragher on Mason Mount saying “I think next season we can win the Premier League”: 🗣️ Ian Wright: “Listen, I like the confidence. You want players believing they can win big things at Manchester United. That’s the mentality you need. But at the same time, you’ve got to back that up on the pitch. Fans want to see you playing regularly, influencing games, not just talking about what could happen next season.” 🗣️ Roy Keane: “Exactly. It’s easy to talk — very easy. Before you start speaking about winning the league, you’ve got to make sure you’re available. Play 90 minutes, five games in a row. Show some consistency. Too often he’s on the sidelines while the team is doing the hard work. That’s the reality. You can’t lead from the treatment table.” 🗣️ Jamie Carragher: “I agree with Roy. The ambition is good, no problem with that. But supporters will be looking and thinking, ‘we’ve hardly seen you.’ You’ve got to earn the right to make statements like that. At the moment, it feels a bit premature. Focus on staying fit, getting rhythm, then start talking about titles.” 🗣️ Roy Keane: “Simple — do your job first, then talk after.” {@WeAreTheOverlap }
