Brayan Bello was fantastic tonight. 7 IP | 4 H | 0 BB | 0 R | 5 K But when he cannot start games and it forces someone to pitch in an unusual situation and that guy struggles, you can’t help but put some of the blame on Bello’s shoulders. It may not be fair. But I can’t see it any other way.

Craig Breslow also noted they’re having talks about outside additions every single day, but it’s hard to make deals right now (via @jcmccaffrey): “Another way (to improve) is additions from outside the organization, and we’re having conversations every day about those… At the same time, I think there are a bunch of other teams that see themselves in a similar position, where they’re probably underperforming relative to where they thought they would be in a league that is pretty compressed… which makes it a lot harder to line up on trades.”

Craig Breslow spoke about his current outlook on the Red Sox after his shakeup of the coaching staff just over a month ago, via @jcmccaffrey: “I certainly wouldn’t look back at our win-loss record over the last month and say it was this incredible success… But I think we’re starting to more consistently put together good at-bats… We have to put all aspects of the game together to make sure we’re winning more games.”

What will the Red Sox’ final 2026 record look like?

@Buster_ESPN @bradfo I seriously don’t know how he’s not getting canned right now. Trying to acquire something everyone knew they needed in November, would have to overpay probably now. Just not a serious organization currently..

The Red Sox are looking for a right-handed hitter, but as rival execs note, it's a really tough fix to make it on the fly. There are very few options available for a legit RH hitter this early unless you are willing to overpay, and assuming it's a 2B or 3B, then the FO will have to wave the white flag to some degree with Durbin, who was such an important part of the FO vision.

The Red Sox have started exploring the trade market and have been making calls to see what might be available, per @jcmccaffrey. The team isn’t looking to bolster the offense at one specific position. They’re looking to add any offense in general, with a preference for a right-handed bat.

@GetGameChanger I’ve been keeping book for a HS team this spring and I have a suggestion: add catcher blocks and all star defensive plays. People following along with game cast could then see if a great play was made, also coaches would love catcher blocks as a stat.

I just realized that Brayan Bello is this generation’s Clay Buchholz. He has the ability (and has shown as much) to be really good. But when he’s bad, he’s the worst pitcher in the league. I am living my 2015 nightmare all over again just with a different right-hander.
