@DerickPatterson @LqLana Things don't always happen that way. She said she was afraid of what people would say if she reported it to the police. There's good reason for that. I'm sure her friends did what she asked them to or not to do.

@nobody36027512 @LqLana All I know if a friend of mine told me that they were sexually violated by a member of government, I would’ve been to the police station and a lawyer’s office immediately. How does a friend not say something if this was something so traumatizing?

@LqLana I understand that Eric Swalwell is innocent until proven guilty. I don't understand calling the women liars. It's hard for a woman to come forward bc of videos like this. A drunk woman can't consent, even if he was drunk too. As a lawyer, I'm sure he knows that better than most.

@Bakari_Sellers Before John Wooden got to UCLA, UCLA Men’s BB had ZERO Championships. He went on a 10 year championship spree in 12 years. Not comparing Cori Close to John Wooden, but UCLA has a lot of tradition and Cori showed that given some time, with her leadership, they’ll be back again.

I truly can’t imagine reacting like this if someone with Tourette’s shouted a gay slur. It’s involuntary. John Davidson likely leads a life of immense anxiety & daily social isolation. The world would be a better place if we showed each other more grace.

I’m dealing with a family emergency, so I won’t be doing broadcast interviews on the John Davidson Tourette’s tic at the BAFTAs story. Hearing the N word shouted at two of the most successful black actors in the world, on stage at the BAFTAs and broadcast on the BBC, was horrible. It made people uncomfortable. It should have. But it was an involuntary tic from someone who lives with Tourette’s syndrome. It was not chosen. It was not intentional. It was not an expression of belief. What’s astonishing is watching people who constantly lecture the public about inclusion suddenly abandon it the moment it becomes complicated. The same voices that demand respect for lived experience are now acting as if a neurodivergent man consciously decided to shout a slur for sport. Tourette’s is a neurological condition. It is not a political statement. It is not a moral failing. You cannot preach DEI and then punish someone for symptoms of their neurodivergence. Even the Royal Household has previously understood Davidson’s condition. Not even the late Queen was immune to his tics he said “F*ck the Queen” TO HER FACE. If that reality can be accepted there, it should not be beyond the rest of us. Two things can be true at once. The word is abhorrent. The tic was involuntary. If your commitment to inclusion collapses when it involves neurodivergence, then it was never inclusion in the first place.

@KPmufc @albieamankona If a child were to say it, would it be ok?!? They don’t know the difference or the meaning. They only know what they’ve been told or seen someone they know use that word in specific situations. 🤔

@DerickPatterson @albieamankona Derick, you've had your whole life to educate yourself & not be this thick & you have failed. Every adult who speaks the English language knows the word & who it's (horribly) used to describe He's called every minority under the sun, a slur associated with them. He can't help it

@KPmufc @albieamankona No one is telling him to do that. Acting as if disability and racism can’t exist in the same spectrum is ridiculous.
