I had the privilege of speaking with many curious older adults today for “Curious About AI?” — a free community presentation hosted by Chilliwack Learning Society. I was grateful to be invited as a guest speaker, not as an expert, but as another community member and learner trying to navigate AI in the workplace, in my studies and in everyday life. 👨🏼‍💻 We talked about what AI is and is not, explored practical ways tools like ChatGPT and other technologies can support daily tasks at home, and reviewed some important safety precautions to keep in mind when choosing how to engage with AI. In a serendipitous way, this presentation also helped shape my final project for Adult Education 407: Workplace and Organizational Learning at UFV this semester. Thank you to Annette and Michelle at Chilliwack Learning Society for their kindness and support, and to all of the lifelong learners who came with thoughtful questions, openness and curiosity.
