New paper with @aronvandepol. How do the language and ideas of national identity in educational material vary over time and especially across regime types? We examine the question using 67 South Korean national history textbooks (kuksa, in KR) covering the period 1895 to 2016.

The question is where he takes it from here. Does Kim's bullishness portend doubling down on current tactics, or does it mean he will open space for probing new avenues? Time will hopefully tell.

Not my #1 choice, but how many choices do we actually have? Besides, Pereira comes with one of Nuno's initial advantages: linguistic dexterity. If that means he gets across his tactical ideas clearly, as it presumably would, then that's a good start.

An update from the line we ran early this morning... #NFFC edging closer to the appointment of Vitor Pereira, with talks underway with the former Wolves manager. nytimes.com/athletic/70399…

This is a natural outcome of Dyche’s inherent conservatism, in my view.
WT Analysis@wt_analysis

Just heard Dyche post-match confirming that Murillo was due to start at left-back for #NFFC tonight. Makes the decision to switch Aina to LB and start Abbott even more foolish in my opinion. If preparation is as key and important as Dyche suggests (it is!), then you should try to negate the impact of changes much as possible - not switch 50% of your back 4 when you can change 25%.

Manager is continually moaned at for his style of play, which we asked for when we had to go for a third manager of the season, but some of these players are truly dreadful and refuse to take their opportunities

Good points on both sides of things. I do share Pete & MDA’s view that the decline in player performances lately seems like a bad sign as Dyche’s coaching takes effect. It felt like the Dyche comments on Friday were the cracks beginning to show a bit. However I did spend my summer wisely trying to establish a ‘Performamce’ rating for games which ignores the result because we all know results bring emotions. Well that performance score, created before this season even started, does backup Paul’s view of the Everton game and it does show the West Ham game was an above average performance for us since 22/23, but a below average game for creating chances. The concerns of Pete are also shown on the chart by the 8 game average which is heading in the wrong direction from the overall average this season.
