@politicalbaaba Before even going into other things, like paying back the oil bonds, big cuts in income tax and GST and so on, there is a severe supply side crunch going on globally, so spot prices are likely much higher than the theoretical 104$ number you quote.

Petrol prices have been increased by Rs. 3 per litre amid rising global prices due to the Iran war. Many people including me have criticised the govt. for not passing on the decline in crude oil prices in the past to end consumers but instead jacking up the excise duty. While passing on the brunt to consumers when global crude oil prices increase.  In May 2014, when PM Modi assumed power, Indian crude oil basket averaged $106.85 per barrel, with the exchange rate at approximately 58.5 {to the US Dollar}). In May prices in Mumbai were approx. Rs. 72 per litre. Rupee cost per barrel = Rs. 6250 In May 2026 (till date), Indian crude oil basket averaged $104.68 per barrel, with the exchange rate at approximately 95 {to the US Dollar}). Petrol price after hike is approx. Rs. 107 per litre in Mumbai. Rupee cost per barrel = Rs. 9945 Rupee cost per barrel has increased by 60%. Factoring in the change in crude prices and exchange rates, petrol price in Mumbai should have been Rs. 115, Rs. 8 higher than currently. Petrol prices in Mumbai are lower by Rs. 8 per litre given crude & currency movements. India imported 88.4% of its requirements in FY25-26. ONGC the national oil producer does not offer any discount to indian refiners / oil marketing companies and sell it at international market prices.

@ssly_funny @elmihiro No idea, but the Eriye/AWACS was an integral part of this tactical success. In fact, most of their jets have inferior radars, so their air force's dependence on their AWACS is pretty high. A very strong vulnerability that's already been exploited

@Deus_Ex_DeMo @elmihiro On a related but separate note, how much of the link 17 and link green are actually developed by Pak, as is being claimed? I imagine both would require capability in manufacturing telecom equipment.

The whitepill explanation is that Rafales performed pretty well in May 2025, and the loss on May 7 is more because of poor tactics/strategery/planning than any technical shortcoming with the platform itself.

IAF finalises #Rafale RFP, sets stage for fighter production IAF chief ACM AP Singh to fly to France early next month PM Modi will also travel to France later next month 22 to come in fly away condition, 92 to be manufactured in India theprint.in/defence/iaf-fi…

@YusufDFI Such bad faith trolling by an american cheerleader, despite the fact that this "austherity kaal" is a direct result of america. Don't expect much more from you, after your absurd equation of BJP and TMC.

WPI @ 8%, CPI above 3% = nominal GDP may settle, after a long time, into double digit territory. That is generally good news, esp if interest rates are managed a tad lower than inflation prints. MMS rode out taper tantrum and GFC precisely by inflating away public debt...

@VatsRishap It should be, in the worst case, a defense of continued track 2 diplomacy. In the best case, poor messaging. In the horrible case, another example of towing the amrikan line. I think that's quite unlikely though, despite the visible mistrust

I don’t anticipate any broader shift either, but such silly interjections—along with the continued deference on mediation—is signalling more confusion while claiming clarity. Sends a mixed message to your own people, not just the adversary. Resolve is needed, not reticence.

@YusufDFI Cabinet ministers need adequate protection as well, the PM is not some exception. The real problem is babu and politicians, lower down the ranks than ministers, compensating for their relative lack of importance with large convoys.

Barring the PM who does need adequate protection, I hope ppl keep track of the convoy size of the ministers who have done reels on cutting their convoy size today.

@FinestYew Most of defense blackpilling is because people want bharat to turn into a military superpower by next week. We were crawling 10 years ago in terms of military, now we are limping at least. Compare present with past and you will see that we are progressing very good.

@addheeraj PM going around in road shows, or letting some random child/elderly etc come to meet with him in rallies and roadshows, is actually much more of a security threat. Many videos of SPG personnel being tense and nervous as hell during such interactions.

@Pradip_K_Varma Seems like it would be a long and protracted fight. Depends a lot on cadre and organisation level leaders as well. SC has made it clear that the party president controls the legislative wing, so having a simple majority wouldn't be enough in assmebly

@alpha_defense They don't want to do big terror attacks in J&K right now. But if they remain unsuccessful in infiltrations, the terrorism in J&K will stop after some time. That would be a big failure for them

For a moment, pause and think.. why did Pakistan attempt infiltration today? The timing matters. The world is already in crisis. Pakistan knows that if tensions escalate and India responds hard, its economy and internal stability cannot sustain prolonged pressure. Yet they still chose to probe. Why? Image via BLA

This whole guilt tripping thing accompanied by sacrifice your lifestyle for the betterment of the country, had a very sad third world feel to it. If there are problems to be prepared around, just a more transparent articulation would have been better.

#WATCH | Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "The moment the holidays begin, children are handed tickets to go abroad. The trend nowadays is to travel overseas—often for destination weddings. There are many people here who do not send me invitations anymore; they used to send them in the past because they would hold their weddings abroad, but now they are stopping that practice. This trend of destination weddings abroad is growing rapidly; however, consider the fact that this entails a significant expenditure of foreign currency. Ask yourselves: are there no places within India where we can spend our vacations, where we can teach our children about our history, where we can take pride in our own local sites. It is essential that we celebrate our vacations right here in India; furthermore—even when it comes to weddings—I do not believe there could be any place more beautiful or sacred for us than our own India..." @arzandc @nit_ayatana @luvpuri That is obviously not the case, since the entire aim of unconventional warfare is to prevent conventional war, esp with nuclear threats. Otherwise, why is Pakistan not at war with India, despite stubbornly blaming Indian for all of their terror attacks(highest in the world)?

@nit_ayatana @luvpuri Yep, so goes the logic. But what if the Pak Army’s incentives are different to those of GoI? What if continual war with India is precisely how they consolidate legitimacy & power - their core organizing principle? And what if continual war jeopardizes Vikshit Bharat?

@sunandavashisht Or people would have find their voice and strength to resist sooner, and she would have been defeated earlier. The reaction on the streets make it clear how difficult any "martyr" narrative would have been to pull off. 2021 election was anyway a farce, TMC was much weaker

@somnath1978 Firstly, no one claims India is "viksit" now. It's the goal for 2047. Secondly, even the superpowah amrika and largest oil producer has jacked prices astronomically, while we have had no change for almost 70 days, and only "appeals" now
