Petrol prices have been increased by Rs. 3 per litre amid rising global prices due to the Iran war.
Many people including me have criticised the govt. for not passing on the decline in crude oil prices in the past to end consumers but instead jacking up the excise duty. While passing on the brunt to consumers when global crude oil prices increase.
In May 2014, when PM Modi assumed power, Indian crude oil basket averaged $106.85 per barrel, with the exchange rate at approximately 58.5 {to the US Dollar}). In May prices in Mumbai were approx. Rs. 72 per litre. Rupee cost per barrel = Rs. 6250
In May 2026 (till date), Indian crude oil basket averaged $104.68 per barrel, with the exchange rate at approximately 95 {to the US Dollar}). Petrol price after hike is approx. Rs. 107 per litre in Mumbai. Rupee cost per barrel = Rs. 9945
Rupee cost per barrel has increased by 60%. Factoring in the change in crude prices and exchange rates, petrol price in Mumbai should have been Rs. 115, Rs. 8 higher than currently.
Petrol prices in Mumbai are lower by Rs. 8 per litre given crude & currency movements.
India imported 88.4% of its requirements in FY25-26. ONGC the national oil producer does not offer any discount to indian refiners / oil marketing companies and sell it at international market prices.

@ssly_funny @elmihiro No idea, but the Eriye/AWACS was an integral part of this tactical success. In fact, most of their jets have inferior radars, so their air force's dependence on their AWACS is pretty high. A very strong vulnerability that's already been exploited

The whitepill explanation is that Rafales performed pretty well in May 2025, and the loss on May 7 is more because of poor tactics/strategery/planning than any technical shortcoming with the platform itself.

WPI @ 8%, CPI above 3% = nominal GDP may settle, after a long time, into double digit territory. That is generally good news, esp if interest rates are managed a tad lower than inflation prints.

@YusufDFI Cabinet ministers need adequate protection as well, the PM is not some exception. The real problem is babu and politicians, lower down the ranks than ministers, compensating for their relative lack of importance with large convoys.

@FinestYew Most of defense blackpilling is because people want bharat to turn into a military superpower by next week. We were crawling 10 years ago in terms of military, now we are limping at least. Compare present with past and you will see that we are progressing very good.

@addheeraj PM going around in road shows, or letting some random child/elderly etc come to meet with him in rallies and roadshows, is actually much more of a security threat. Many videos of SPG personnel being tense and nervous as hell during such interactions.

People are who are panicking based on this should realize this may be in secure areas in Delhi and broadly to send a symbolic message. The security convoy will remain bigger in areas with higher threat peception.

In latest ADMK split I expect same logic to follow ... the larger MLA faction in this case the CVS-SPV group to get the symbol.
However here the majority is narrow, so symbol might get frozen as well, unless several MLAs swing to one side.

Even then, how come Iran could get the help of Chinese satellites to show the damage it did to US bases or installations and Pakistan couldn’t? Perhaps it’s bcz Pakistan didn’t actually inflict similar damage on Indian bases, as opposed to what Indian strikes did to theirs.
