I got the Longbow! The iconic weapon for Medieval English and Welsh armies. In the Battle of Crécy English, Welsh, Irish and Gascon soldiers smashed the French, they lost 1 king, 9 princes, 10 counts, a duke, and an archbishop and many thousands of soldiers.

Section 4 FSA (Free Speech Act, when passed) will be Britain's first amendment. It will be a passage you quote at the door to police, to your regulator, your employer, or to SLAPP-happy organisation or individuals who would like your line of inquiry to stop. Saying "I know my rights" (and knowing them) or saying, "It's a free country" shall be possible again in England. Read our bill, here: adamsmith.org/research/the-f…

@Dev_2000AD @NbRubbish The plot point was they were gonna blow up Endor after the Rebels destroyed the shield generator, basically The Emperor just being petty. But also then it would’ve quite literally been “race to blow up the Deathstar before it destroys a planet” like a New Hope Again lol.

@thegreengiant88 @MCRReiners Though Americans will say the 1st amendment (and 2nd) are sacred, there's nothing practical backing that up, the Blaine act removing the 18th amendment required no more legaslative effort than it would take to remove any UK law. It is purely cultural and political importance.

@MCRReiners Any act can be removed by any future government because of our constitution though, no? How would this actual work in UK law? This isn't America

@fleming_benn Firstly that is hardly a "peaceful secession" considering it only came about because of a war that took 15,000 lives AND it might not even happen as Papua new guinea is dragging it's feet. Secondly I use the Americans as a comparison as they're neighbours with similiar values.

There is currently a peaceful secession going on in the world, RIGHT NOW, at this exact instant. Bougainville is seceding from Papua New Guinea, and will be an independent country next year. Peaceful secessions and national divorces go on all the time. You don't need to use the American Civil War as the only historical milestone.

Well, I think I just gained a lot of sympathy for the Alberta Separatist movement. And I've been consistently saying for 10 years that it would be unwise, given the reality of being a landlocked state whose economy depends on agriculture and resource extraction. Don't get me wrong. I've compared a lot of individual Canadians to rats, especially in Ottawa. But when government propaganda uses broad strokes to paint its own citizens as rats, is it even appropriate to call Canada a nation anymore? This is Radio Rwanda shit.

@fleming_benn It is fine for the government to advocate it's own national cause, that's their job. In any case to secede is an extreme measure which is why in most of the world it is illegal. Though maybe there is a joke for you to use here, about rats leaving a sinking ship.

Cool story. But different countries have different laws, and in Canada, the courts have already declared that provinces can have their own separation referendums. Now let's be clear, if Alberta tries to separate, Ottawa will pull out every trick, legal and extralegal. But that's a different question.

@dwallacewells Mexican here. The government achieved this through changing the definition of crimes and hiding real numbers. Also, don't believe Viri, she's a known government cheerleader.

I hate the "Lord of War" movie. Because they turned Victor Bout into an American. Don't know if they thought it would make the character more relatable, or because they wanted to tell a "West Bad" narrative. But it sucks. Victor Bout is a Russian war criminal.
