@Joe_Eisenmann Sportpreneurs plan what they think is best for adolescents? And it’s accepted. Does anyone ask teens what is impt in addition to sport? Rites of passage are you removing for them? Formals? Proms? Assemblies? Ask teachers who specialize in adolescent social & emotional devpt?

I've spent over a decade coaching elite performers in professional sports, Olympic sports, and elite military units. The truly great ones recognize their mentality as a competitive edge. Here are the 3 mindsets that separate the best from the rest:

@ThePerformanc16 Absolutely not a sport scientist. What I think is that there’s a difference between 1) academics that research/publish as a career 2) academics that do/did research/publish & work within sport 3) people that use their research to better inform their practice within the sport.

@DevelopAthletes application of sport science is sport performance. Again, I believe the term Sport Science should be reserved for those doing actual research. Applying principals of research to me is sport performance and not sport science.

@ThePerformanc16 As well as working with & writing programs & curriculum for various Jr leagues, NHL teams, & Agencies. A little niche. Academics I work with are quite supportive that their research is being used to better inform practices as they are not the ones working with athletes & orgs.

@DevelopAthletes sounds interesting but I think we all just need to stop with the sport science in sport. Unless we are in an academic setting and doing research with athletes to be published it's not sport science, but rather sport performance.

So happy for my son Ty, his teammates, and the whole organization! What a fantastic way to end the season! Winning league Championships is no easy task and it takes way “more” than people realize.

“I should never have to coach effort… or I’ve recruited the wrong player.” Unreal quote here from @WMUHockey national championship winning coach @patfersch on the power of player accountability on a team. This is a must watch for all players and coaches. 🎙️ podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the…

@ThePerformanc16 Agreed. Genuine late bloomers… that a lot of factors played into it. Being a late bloomer guarantees planning an atypical path to “maybe” develop to a D1 to pro. A typical goal of many late bloomers in AAA. Not easy to articulate in a short post.

@DevelopAthletes while I think that is awesome that 3 boys from the same team have signed NHL contracts, lets' not start inferring anything from it, It may just have been a great cohort in that age group and nothing more.
